2024 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Inductees: Cher Is In, Mariah Is Not
Anyone care about this? The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is worthless, but maybe it matters to deranged stans who need their faves acknowledged. Nominees were announced earlier this year, and they were: Mariah Carey, Cher, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Lenny Kravitz, Sinéad O’Connor, Oasis, Ozzy Osbourne, Sade, Foreigner, Mary J. Blige, Dave Matthews Band, Eric B. & Rakim, Jane’s Addiction, and A Tribe Called Quest.
Of that nominee list, Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest made the cut and are being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
That of course means Mariah Carey, Sade, Lenny Kravitz, and a few others didn’t make it. I’m not a Mariah Carey stan by any means, but her not making it just proves how arbitrary and useless the whole “induction” process is. Is she somehow going to be more deserving if she’s nominated again next year? Three years from now? Why? Pointless.
