96th Oscar Nominations Livestream
Nominations for the 96th annual Academy Awards will be announced in the livestream above, beginning today at 5:30 AM PT. I’ll probably (hopefully?) be asleep until several hours after they’ve concluded, but I believe a recorded version of the livestream will be in the above player if you’re seeing this later in the morning, when the announcement is over.
The ceremony will air on March 10th at 4pm, which is an hour earlier than normal. ABC moved the show to 4pm so they could air a new episode of Abbott Elementary in primetime, immediately following the Oscars.
I haven’t seen enough of the nominees to really be “rooting” for anything as of right now, but there’s over a month to get caught up. I liked Oppenheimer, and it would be fine/deserving if it wins Best Picture, even though I have no interest in seeing it again. I loved May December, but it feels like the awards buzz for it has kind of died out? The screenplay still has a good shot, and Charles Melton will hopefully score a Supporting Actor nom. I tried to watch The Holdovers, but was falling asleep after 20 minutes. Maybe I’ll try again. On my list to see ASAP: Zone Of Interest, All Of Us Strangers, Anatomy Of A Fall, and maybe Poor Things, but I hated the director’s last movie (The Favorite), so I’m skeptical.
If you could recommend one movie from 2023 for everyone to see, what would it be?
