Lil Nas X’s Pants Split Open During Extremely Gay, Groundbreaking Performance Of “Montero” On Saturday Night Live
Lil Nas X is an extremely fine man who by every objective measure has always been hot. Tonight, he became a bonafide sex symbol as he flaunted his ripped physique while seductively groping and grinding up against a half dozen shirtless male dancers during a very gay, very explicit performance of his #1 hit single, “Montero,” on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.
I can’t remember ever seeing a gay man—not to mention a gay Black man who is a hip-hop star—give a live performance on network television that’s been this focused on gay sexuality, this deliberate, this explicit, and, most importantly, this proud. In short, I cannot believe this fucking aired on NBC tonight.
Remember 12 years ago when CBS actually blurred Adam Lambert’s gay kiss during a performance on the American Music Awards? We’ve come a long way since 2009.
What Lil Nas X did tonight was as much about his raw talent as it was about his bravery, and whether he planned it this way or not, he’s a leader and a trailblazer for millions of people. I’m twice his age and probably couldn’t be more outside of his music’s target demographic, but I’m hooked on his songs and inspired by what he did tonight.
What I might love most about him are his savvy marketing skills. The crotch ripping thing was a viral moment that looked totally staged, and it’s the one thing everyone is talking about (including me, as noted in this article’s headline).
Here’s Lil Nas X performing “Montero” on NB fucking C, which is as crazy to see as it is beautiful:
