Pastor Charged With Paying Teen Boys For Sex Can’t Afford Attorney
Plenty of money to buy sex from teen boys, but none left to buy a lawyer after being arrested for buying sex from teen boys. Some tragic irony for a Michigan pastor (of course it’s another pastor):
A former Kalamazoo pastor charged with paying teens for sex can’t afford to keep paying his defense attorney.
Judge Paul Bridenstine granted a motion filed by Stricjavvar “Strick” Strickland’s former attorney Michael Hills to withdraw as Strickland’s counsel during a hearing Tuesday in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court.
Hills said Strickland’s retainer was well past exhausted and his law firm was unable to try a case of this magnitude without necessary funds to do so.
“We were informed there just weren’t any funds coming in,” Hills said during Tuesday’s hearing.
Strickland faces 10 criminal charges after Michigan State Police said he and his wife Jazmonique paid teen boys for sex. Strickland’s case is set to go to trial Dec. 1.
