Gay Couple Commits Suicide Together By Jumping Off Bridge After Posting Instagram Photos

Armenia was rocked last week with the suicide of a young homosexual couple. On the evening of October 20, the two young men jumped from the Davtashen bridge in the country, where both died.
Before committing suicide, the boys posted photos on their Instagram account.
In one of the Instagram photos, the couple shows their wedding bands, indicating that they were married. In another, they applied facial masks in what seems to be a happy moment for both.
Homophobia remains widespread in Armenia, and members of the LGBTQ+ community in the country regularly face discrimination, harassment, and violence. Yet seeking help from mental health services remains a taboo in Armenian society.
On the couple’s Instagram, they captioned the photos, “Happy Ending. Decisions to share photos and all our joint actions were made by both of us.”
