Mira Sorvino Says Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion Sequel Is “Full Force Ahead”
Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion is one of the best comedies of the last 30 years, and certainly one of the greatest cult classics of the 90’s. A sequel has been rumored for a while now, and Mira Sorvino recently revealed that it’s definitely happening, via US Weekly:
“Robin Schiff, the writer, is working on it,” Sorvino, 56, exclusively told Us Weekly at the American Heart Association Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection Concert on Wednesday, January 31. “She’s currently working on Emily in Paris, so she’s finishing up her draft to present to the studio. Lisa and I are wrapping up our deals as executive producers on it with the studio,” Sorvino explained. “We’re full force ahead.”
While the movie only made about $30 million when it was released in April of 1997, so many scenes and lines (“Would you excuse me? I cut my foot before and my shoe is filling up with blood,” along with, “What kinda business you in?“) have become iconic thanks to home media and repeat airings on cable. Given that it was a 10-year reunion in the original, I guess now they can have a 30-year reunion? I hope Lisa Luder and the other bitches are back, or maybe it’d be fun to have new villains.
