Actor Tony Ganios, Who Played “Meat” In Porky’s, Dead At 64
Tony Ganios, who famously played the big-dicked hunk known as “Meat” in the 1980’s raunchy comedy Porky’s, has sadly died. Via Deadline:
Tony Ganios, the actor who made his film debut in Philip Kaufman’s 1979 coming-of-age comedy-drama The Wanderers and played audience favorite Anthony ‘Meat’ Tuperello in the 1980s Porky’s sex comedy franchise, died Sunday following surgery at a hospital in New York. He was 64.
Ganios ultimately died of an infection and heart failure after the surgery, according to his girlfriend.
While he was most known for playing Meat in Porky’s—and for inadvertently being one of the (many) dream hunks on late-night HBO who made me feel strange and unexplainable things as a little kid!—Ganios got his break in The Wanderers, as noted above. Here’s a clip:
And, of course, here’s some of Meat in Porky’s:
Unrelated to Ganios, I stumbled upon this clip of the great Kim Cattrall talking about what Porky’s did for her career, and it’s worth a watch:
