Alec Baldwin Manslaughter Case THROWN OUT Due To Prosecutors Hiding Evidence
UPDATE:
The case against Alec Baldwin has been thrown out! Initial report about the request for dismissal is above, but here’s the update just now via CNN:
In a stunning move Friday, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer has dismissed the indictment against Alec Baldwin. Baldwin’s attorney had filed a motion to dismiss the case, arguing misconduct by state investigators in not properly disclosing evidence in the case. Marlowe Sommer agreed the state improperly disclosed evidence to the defense. “There is no way for the court to right this wrong,” she said.
It’s not immediately clear how or if this might impact the previous conviction of the movie’s armorer, who’s currently serving an 18-month sentence.

News via ABC on the Rust trial in New Mexico, where there’s a chance the entire case against Alec Baldwin could be thrown out due to the prosecution hiding evidence. I’m no Baldwin fan, but it looks like the power-hungry prosecutors were so desperate to make a name for themselves by putting a Hollywood celebrity on trial in their little town, they engaged in egregious prosecutorial misconduct. The defense has called for the case to be dismissed, and the judge is expected to rule before Monday after sending everyone home early today.
