Barack Obama Shares 10 Favorite Movies Of 2024
Obama’s top ten includes All We Imagine As Light, Conclave, The Piano Lesson, The Promised Land, The Seed Of the Scared Fig, Dune 2, Anora, Didi, Sugarcane, and A Complete Unknown. I’ve seen literally none of those except for one, Dune 2, which was just as stupid and boring as Dune 1. After wasting my time on the awful Florida Project a few years ago, I definitely won’t be watching that director’s new movie, Anora. I might try Conclave this weekend, but the cast is so uninteresting with so many old men, I’m not looking forward to it.
I don’t usually see all the award-nominated movies until January when most of them are finally streaming, but as of now, here’s my top 5 of 2024: The Substance (best of the year by far, I’ve never seen anything like it), Civil War (gripping and great entertainment that’s obviously highly relevant), Alien Romulus (I had zero expectations, but it was so much fun and a very worthy addition to the franchise), My Old Ass (sweet and simple, yet so powerfully moving), I Saw The TV Glow (mind-numbingly slow at times, but a devastatingly important story told with brilliant style and subtlety). Runners-up: A Real Pain and Challengers. Definitely will see ASAP: The Brutalist, The Room Next Door, Babygirl, Queer.
