Republican Congressman Who Went Missing For 4 Months Says He Was Hospitalized With Depression
Imagine leaving your job for four months and not telling your employers (the American people) where the fuck you were, all while collecting your full salary and benefits, and then being allowed to come back to work whenever you wanted, with your job still totally secure. And in a fun twist, imagine that as one of the things you did at your job, you previously blocked other people from being allowed to do the same thing that you just did! That’s what New Jersey Republican Tom Kean has just gotten away with in the U.S. House of Representatives. Kean went MIA back in March, but he came back from the dead today (speaking of which, anyone hear from Mitch McConnell since he went MIA two weeks ago?) and claims to have been hospitalized with depression for the last four months. Here was his comeback speech this morning:
Most people who are diagnosed with depression get a Prozac script and are sent on their way. (Some can’t even get that.) So, Kean being hospitalized indicates there was something much more severe going on. Although, to be fair, being locked up in a loony bin is a relatively tame life event for a U.S. politician, when you consider that the sitting U.S. president is a convicted rapist and pedophile in the final throes of dementia while bombing schoolgirls and destroying the world. If Kean was/is depressed, great, so are at least 20% of Americans, but you don’t see any of them going AWOL for nearly half a year before magically returning to work with a nice typewritten speech and everything forgiven. Had Kean been honest about his situation four months ago (or even three months ago, at which time he was clearly fully committed to inpatient treatment), and had Kean not previously voted to kick his own constituents off of their health care just one year ago, he might be a sympathetic figure. Instead, he’s just another one of the heartless, spineless, and dishonest ghouls who run this morally bankrupt wasteland called America. He’ll undoubtedly be re-elected in November.
