Man Who Drove Van Into Crowd At Berlin Gay Pride Shot Dead
The terrorist who drove a van into the Berlin Gay Pride festival yesterday and killed at least one person while injuring dozens more has been shot dead. Berlin police shot the suspect, Abdul Ballout (pictured above), after he lunged at officers with a knife while they attempted to arrest him. The arrest and shooting took place in the Spandau district, police said, after a nearly 24-hour manhunt. Firefighters tried to resuscitate Ballout, but he died on the scene.
Ballout was a German citizen with Lebanese roots, and prosecutors said he was linked to the militant Islamic State, but it’s not clear if the terror group itself was directly involved in yesterday’s attack. Ballout drove a van into the crowd at Berlin Gay Pride, attended by hundreds of thousands of people, and then proceeded to attack festival-goers with a knife near Brandenburg Gate. He killed one woman and injured at least 29 others.
