Alec Baldwin Manslaughter Charge Dropped In Rust Shooting Case
The former prosecutor had already resigned after it became clear she was a right-wing nutjob with a political agenda (Baldwin is obviously a well-known Democrat), so the new prosecutor handling the case must’ve realized they had no real evidence, and there was no way they were going to get a conviction. Via Deadline:
Less than two weeks before a mini-trial is scheduled to begin in New Mexico over the October 2021 killing of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, all charges are going to be dropped against Alec Baldwin, for now.
Recently appointed special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis are expected to be filing paperwork soon, perhaps even today, to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter claims against the multi-Emmy-winning actor without prejudice, we hear.

The involuntary manslaughter charge is still standing against co-defendant Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the Rust armorer, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they drop the case against her, too. Statement from Baldwin legal team:
“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.”
