Austin Wilde Exclusive: One Of Gay Porn’s Biggest Stars Opens Up About Producing, Directing, And Performing
Str8UpGayPorn was lucky to snag a few minutes of Austin Wilde’s time today for a quick Q&A, and the GuysInSweatpants owner filled us in on how he casts and produces scenes, how he balances being a performer and a director, what he looks for in new models, and a lot more—including news about a brand new studio that Austin Wilde will be launching soon. Plus, this interview comes on the eve of Austin Wilde’s latest scene—that’s right, we get to see him fucking in a new duo scene, for the first time in six months—and it’s a flip-fuck with popular star Brandon Evans, as seen in the photos below. Str8UpGayPorn: It’s great to see you in back in a duo scene today. You’ve filmed Brandon several times, so what was it like finally performing with him on camera?
Austin Wilde: It feels like just yesterday I was fucking our new guy, Chandler, but that was six months ago! This is actually my second time fucking Brandon, we just decided to record it this time.
Ahh, very nice.
And Brandon is great! He’s hot, has a nice dick, nice ass, completely versatile, and he loves getting fucked—my ideal scenario. We flip-fucked in this video, and we both had a dick in our ass when we came.

Does the director in you influence your own performance, or the performance of your co-star during filming? Is it challenging having two jobs at once—performer and director—and does one ever get in the way of the other?
It can certainly be challenging having to keep my mind on both sides of the camera while I’m performing. “We don’t shoot porn, we shoot sex” is our motto, and it usually makes the need for directing minimal. Before every shoot, I always tell the guys, “Hook up like I’m not here, and I’m going to film.” So between that, and my amazing cameraman/boyfriend already knowing what people like to see, I’m able to put most of my focus on making my bottom cum.
Nice. It shows in the scenes how comfortable everyone is, and it’s always clear that performers are having a really good time. GuysInSweatpants has introduced some of the best newcomers of the year, including Miller, Mateo, and Greyson. How do you find these guys?
A lot of these guys find me and apply. The process of getting them here varies. With Mateo, I messaged him on Twitter, and he was here making magic two weeks later. But with Greyson, he applied, and then I was in contact with him for well over a year before he decided to join us. I’m grateful for them all just the same though!
How do you determine the duos and scene partners you cast? Is it based on the types of guys your models are attracted to, or is just a matter of scheduling?
I’m no Chuck Woolery, but I try to match the guys up as best I can, based on the type of guys they tell me they’re into physically. I’ll usually show them each other’s pics just to be safe. I’ve worked with other studios enough to know that putting guys together without considering their type and without considering whether they like to top or bottom isn’t the best way to make great videos. The only time I ever really have an issue is when someone doesn’t want to shoot with a guy because of his ethnicity, and then…guess who doesn’t get booked…ever.
That is great to hear. Other than a big dick or a hot body, what is the number one thing you look for in a model, or the one thing that can make someone a star?
Personality, without question. Instead of giving them a script or telling them to act for porn, I prefer grabbing my camera and taking them out hiking or to the beach, or even just hanging out chatting before the scene. So, whether it’s for a video or just a webcam show, personality and attitude is most important to me. I usually try to feel them out by FaceTiming guys who I haven’t worked with yet. Plus, having a house full of guys who are enjoyable to be around makes the overall experience better for them, too.
As a successful producer and longtime performer, what do you think is the biggest challenge the gay porn industry is facing right now?
Tube sites have been, and likely always will be, a challenge for the industry. They were around and already taking their toll on the industry far before I started GuysInSweatpants, so I can’t say that I’ve seen the direct impact, but I know it’s there.
Without giving away your own secret, what should studios do to keep themselves competitive and successful?
Nothing I say here is going to be groundbreaking information, and hopefully it’s stuff any site owner already knows. But, it’s important to try giving people things they can’t find on tube sites: Quality content, with attractive and fresh guys. And, again, personality is a big one. I imagine there are other ways, but my attorney has advised no further comment, ha ha.
I understand. With casting, producing, directing, and performing—not to mention doing interviews, interacting with fans, managing social media, and appearing at live events—how do you find the time to do everything, while still making everything look so good? How do you manage it all, and what do you do to unwind?
I got exhausted just reading this question.
LOL.
And, let’s not forget the post-production editing and my ADD, two of the most time-consuming things of all. We only film maybe a week out of of each month, so I have time to tackle everything else in between shoots. It’s not a Monday through Friday job, so I work on the weekends and until 8 or 9pm many days during the week. If I’m ever feeling overwhelmed, I’ll take a day off and go to the beach, or take my Jeep up into the mountains as far away from cell service as possible to preserve my sanity.
OK, I promise I’ll let you go now, but before I do, can you give us any hints or clues about what you have coming for fans throughout the rest of 2018?
We have lots of newcomers already in the works, which is always fun! And, I haven’t talked much about this yet, but we’re working on a second site! It’s going to be completely different from GuysInSweatpants, although, current members will get a nice membership discount on the new site. We’re still in the early stages of it, so you’ll have to check back for more details later.
