Bastian Hart Exclusive: Being An 18-Year-Old Porn Star, Loving Magical Dicks, And How To Be A Great Bottom
One of the most exciting and talented young performers to emerge in 2015 is Bastian Hart. In this Str8UpGayPorn exclusive interview, the best powerbottom currently shooting with Helix Studios (IMHO) shares his thoughts on working in the industry, who his role models are, and what it’s like to be open about his sexuality and his career at such a young age.
Str8UpGayPorn: Hi Bastian! For those who might not know, how old are you and where do you call home?
Bastian Hart: I’m 18 for about one more month. I live in Chicago and was raised here.
You mentioned you had just graduated from high school and are on your way to college—congratulations! What are you going to be studying?
I’m a language major for French and Spanish.
How did you start working with Helix? Were you recruited or did you apply?
I posted some pictures on Reddit, and they got really popular! Alex (from Helix) got in contact with me and asked me to apply, and the rest is history.
Have you come out to friends and family? What was that experience like?
I’m completely out. My mom was OK with it and the rest of my family was, too, except for my dad, but he’s crazy any way. My friends of course were accepting.
Do people know about your work as a performer, and if so, what do they think?
I told a lot of my friends recently and they think it’s cool! I always expect it to be more shocking to people, but I’ve been told that my work makes sense considering my personality. My mom doesn’t like it, but what mom would?
Were you nervous to open up about your sexuality and your work, or was it not an issue?
I was nervous when I was younger about my sexuality. Growing up in a conservative Midwest suburb, it wasn’t really OK to be gay, but then I realized I didn’t care. That was two or three years ago. I told my friends about my work quite recently actually and, like I said, they were receptive and thought it was cool. The only thing I would be nervous about is going to college next year, because I’m not going to hide it and sometimes people can be closed-minded. I’m not really intimidated by those people though.
With whom have you enjoyed working most so far, and why?
I’ll be honest and say that Troy Ryan’s dick feels magical, so that was the scene I enjoyed filming most.
What’s the hardest or most frustrating part about shooting a scene?
The hardest part about shooting a scene is probably the cum. It’s supposed to go in my mouth and it usually ends up in my eyes, and either way I’m never happy about it.
What’s your favorite or most enjoyable part of shooting a scene?
My favorite part of the scene is the making out at first, and then I love sucking the guy’s dick. Sucking dick is kind of one of my favorite things. Judge me!
I don’t think anyone could judge you harshly for that! Did you watch any other studios or performers before you started?
I have always been a closet porn fan and I’ve been watching gay porn since I realized I liked dick. My favorites are always the ones with the biggest dicks, even though I’m fully aware it’s only a fantasy. I really think Antonio Biaggi is a good performer, but if I ever saw that penis in person I’d run away for sure.
Any performers you have a crush on?
Some stars that I have a crush on would be, like, Hunter Page, Austin Wilde, or Brent Everett. That’s just based on looks though. The only one I’ve ever actually talked to is Hunter, and he’s an extremely nice person.
Your scenes at Helix have been some of the best they’ve put out this year. What do you think it takes to make a “good” scene?
Thank you so much! I can’t act like I’m a professional and spout off all the things I think are required to make a good scene because, the truth is, I just do what comes naturally to me, and people seem to like the end result. That’s not to say I haven’t learned anything though!
Such as?
Relaxing is definitely key to having good sex and even more so on camera, which is difficult the first time you do it. I got more and more comfortable in my scenes and I think that was a big reason my recent ones have been received so well.
Is there anything you get shy or anxious about when you’re performing? Any special technique or secret skill you use during filming?
I get shy about my hair, because if it’s not in the exact place I want it to be it starts bothering me. It’s hard to keep it cute while you’re on your back though, so I just let it go. I noticed I’m the only one who ever notices that my hair looks bad.
You’ve only bottomed so far, but is that how things go in your personal life, off camera?
I’ve only ever bottomed. I’ve always been small and I like dominant guys, so that’s just what feels right. Plus, I really enjoy bottoming. I’ve only recently gotten freakishly taller than everyone else, and I’m still coming to terms with it. Maybe I’ll learn how to top eventually, but I would need a lot more practice before I would feel comfortable doing it.
Do you have a boyfriend now, and if so, what does he think about your work? What is your type of guy?
Nope, no boyfriend. I had someone recently, or I thought I did. I’m not good with guys. So, I’m single but not really looking. I’m letting them come to me from now on! I really wish I had a “type” of guy that I like but there is no correlation between the men I have fallen for in the past. It feels like my brain just picks people without my consent, and it’s annoying.
Would you ever date another model?
I would date another model. If I’m one, I don’t see how I couldn’t like another. I just haven’t met one that has liked me—yet!
Has anyone ever recognized you as Bastian Hart when you’re out and about? If so, what happened?
No one has ever recognized me! It makes me so mad. Maybe someone has but no one’s ever come up to me. I’m excited for the day that happens though.
What do you think is the first thing people notice about you?
Maybe my eyes, or my ass. It’s what people comment on the most.
Speaking of that ass, do you worry that you might be typecast as a bottom because you do it so well?
I don’t worry—thank you for saying I’m a good bottom though. Melissa McCarthy was typecast as the crazy comedic relief woman ever since Bridesmaids, and she still is making movies playing a similar character four years later, and I bet she’s making bank. So as long as I’m making money, typecast me all you want!
What’s the one secret to being a good bottom that you can share with people?
I don’t have any secrets. I just genuinely enjoy it, so that’s probably why people think I’m a good bottom.

What do you think about models having GoFundMe campaigns? Would you ever start one?
I don’t judge. I think a lot of them are frivolous, but if people are willing to pay, then do your thing. I personally can’t see myself setting one up because that’s not the sort of person I am. I’ve never had problems with money though, so I don’t look down on performers who do make them.
When you’re not shooting scenes or going to school, do you have a day job or other work? What do you do in your spare time?
I don’t have a day job actually! I like to focus on school. In my spare time I like to listen to music and go out with friends. I know, I’m boring.
What do you have planned for the rest of 2015? More scenes? Summer school?
I have school starting in August, so that’s that. This summer I had really good plans, but they fell through as they so often do. Definitely more scenes though.
Any other performers you look up to as role models?
I definitely look up to Conner Habib; I think I’d like to be like him. He’s really smart and well spoken but knows that life is too short to pretend you don’t like sex, and I think the same way. And although Jake Bass scares me, I think it’s so cool how he got so popular, to the point that even people who aren’t gay or gay porn fans know who he is! That’s my lofty goal.
Any advice for brand new models starting their careers now?
Really think about what you’re doing. Think about if you’ll be received well, and if you’re any good at having sex. And if you make the conscious decision to go through with it, think about and be prepared for any and all consequences that come, whether they’re good or bad.
Finally, if you weren’t working with Helix, which other studios do you think are creating good content?
I think Sean Cody makes good porn. They don’t always have the greatest performers, but the guys always look good. I think BelAmi and CockyBoys are doing some good stuff, too; I think if not for Helix, I’d want to be working for either of them.
