Ben Masters Says We Won’t Join “The Black People In These Parades” Because A Black Man Once Called Him A Faggot

While there were inspiring messages all weekend long from gay porn performers and industry members joining George Floyd protests nationwide and supporting Black Lives Matter, one gay porn star has taken the exact opposite tone today, and he will definitely not be attending the protests. Performer Ben Masters told his Instagram followers (in a now deleted post) that he won’t join the “black people in these parades” because he says he was once called a faggot by a black person, and therefore he’s “not gonna go and risk being injured or in pain or hurt or anything right now outside.”

Here’s the video, as recorded by Twitter user S. Michael:

Showing a complete lack of understanding while trivializing (yes, he called the protests “parades”) the movement is disturbing enough, but choosing to dismiss an entire race of people because of something that one or two of those people said to you is as self-absorbed as it is sick. I’ve been called a faggot by people of all races, as I’m sure Ben Masters has, too, but his decision to single out the black person in order to publicly excuse himself from supporting a movement is a deliberate and disgusting choice.

Ben Masters later tweeted the below message showing him in photos with black men, which I guess is supposed to prove that he supports Black Lives Matter? Then again, he deleted this tweet, too, so maybe he doesn’t.

CockyBoys, where Ben Masters has been exclusive, was tagged in one of the tweets about Masters, and the studio called his comments “Unacceptable! Period.” They added that they “can not and will not defend any part” of what Masters said.

UPDATE 1:

And of course, here’s the apology he just posted. “Today,” Ben Masters says that he “fully understands what white privilege means.” Today! It never ceases to amaze how clueless some people can be. Better late than never?

UPDATE 2:

CockyBoys just announced that they’ve terminated their contract with Ben Masters, and with regard to Masters’ statements in his video, the studio “will not tolerate this sentiment from any of our performers.”
