Chappell Roan Tells VMAs Red Carpet Photographer To “Shut The Fuck Up!” Before Performing “Good Luck, Babe!”
It’s not entirely clear why she told the photographer to “shut the fuck up,” since the photographer obviously wasn’t telling Chappell Roan to shut the fuck up. He seems to have been yelling at one of the other photographers on last night’s VMAs red carpet, so maybe Roan was yelling back at him in defense of that other photographer, or maybe she just wanted to shut down his rude behavior by scolding him with his own foul language. A censored video showing the entire incident is above, but here’s an uncensored shorter clip:

Later down the carpet, Chappell Roan tried to explain what happened in the interview below, and it seems like she thinks the person yelling “shut the fuck up!” was yelling at her? Given all the noise and craziness, it might not have been clear to her who was yelling what at who:
Finally, if anyone cares about the actual music at MTV’s VMAs, which haven’t been relevant to anyone in 20 years, here was Roan’s cute performance of “Good Luck, Babe!,” which is still the best pop song of 2024:
Side note: The filming/videography for this show was atrocious. Other than one quick glimpse at 1:26, there isn’t a single close-up shot of her face while she’s singing, and it feels like the cameras were hundreds of feet away the entire performance. Did they even have anyone near or on the stage filming? Maybe they used drones to film the whole thing. Mess.
