Depeche Mode Announce New Album, World Tour
Songs on the new album were mostly done prior to Fletch’s passing earlier this year. The album title, “Memento Mori,” translates to “remember you must die,” and while that might sound creepy, Dave Gahan said during a press conference today that, “A lot of the songs are going into that place of reminding ourselves that our time is fleeting, and you got to make the best of it — in a positive way.”
Martin Gore added, “It sounds very morbid, but I think you can look at it very positively as well. In that [you should] live each day to the max. I think that’s how we like to interpret it too. After Fletch’s passing, we decided to continue as we’re sure this is what he would have wanted, and that has really given the project an extra level of meaning.”
