Elon Musk Tweets Fake News Article To Hillary Clinton Saying That Paul Pelosi Was Attacked By Gay Male Prostitute
This really is the perfect example (as if anyone needed another one) of what a worthless idiot Elon Musk is, and it tells you exactly how Musk thinks Twitter should be used: To spread fake news from right-wing freaks and promote conspiracy theories that endanger people’s lives. As if potential and/or existing Twitter advertisers weren’t already jumping ship, this will be yet another nail in Musk’s Twitter coffin. Via Axios:
Early on Sunday, Musk cited a widely discredited website that implied the brutal attack on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, wasn’t carried out by an unhinged far-right blogger — but rather was linked to an anti-LGTBQ “theory” about a skirmish at a local bar.
Musk later deleted the tweet, which was a reply to Hillary Clinton, who was condemning Republicans for spreading hate and conspiracy theories. Coincidentally, the site he was linking to, The Santa Monica Observer, is the same random fake news site that published a story in 2016 stating that Hillary Clinton had died, and a body double had been sent in her place to debate Donald Trump.
An excerpt from the fake news story (archived here, since the original story on the website might be pulled down), written by someone named “Stan Green”:
The Awful Truth: Paul Pelosi Was Drunk Again, And In a Dispute With a Male Prostitute Early Friday Morning.
As SF’s gay bars closed at 2 am, two gay men met in a bar and went home together. Happens every night in the City by the Bay. Except one of these two men, was married to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. I might disappear for telling you the truth. If I do, you’ll all know why. But here’s what really happened early Friday morning in San Francisco. IMHO
You know a news article is legit when the lede ends with “IMHO.”
