Gary Busey Charged With Multiple Sex Crimes In New Jersey
The perpetually disheveled actor has been charged with one count of attempting criminal sexual contact, one disorderly conduct count of harassment, and two counts of criminal sexual contact after an incident at the “Monster Mania Convention” in New Jersey. I’m not sure how big a difference (if any) there is between “contact” and “assault” (did he grope someone’s ass, or did he commit full blown rape?), but either would obviously be bad, and in New Jersey, the “contact” charge is defined as “an act of intentional touching of intimate parts for the purposes of sexual gratification or degradation.” Police aren’t providing any details, other than the location, on the alleged attack or the victim. Via Variety:
During the time of the convention, Cherry Hill police responded to a report of a sex offense at the Doubletree Hotel. After investigating the incident, detectives charged the 78-year-old actor on four offenses: two counts of criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree, one count of attempting criminal sexual contact in the fourth degree and one disorderly conduct count of harassment.
Busey was booked as a guest for Monster-Mania, a horror-themed, fan-fueled event that runs out of Cherry Hill semi-annually. According to the convention’s resources, the actor was listed as an attendant of the Autograph Room, along with other actors like Ralph Macchio, Tom Skerritt and Veronica Cartwright. Busey has appeared at Monster-Mania in prior editions of the convention.
