Gay Porn Star Ricky Larkin Tells Rhyheim Shabazz, Max Konnor, And Küper That “There Are Just Not That Many Good Looking Black Guys In Porn”

It began yesterday as a spirited debate between white performers Küper and Ricky Larkin over why there aren’t enough men of color starring in productions at mainstream gay porn studios, but that debate went off the rails today after Larkin posted a video in which he said that “there are just not that many good looking black guys in porn.”

Here was Küper’s tweet from yesterday that started it all, in which he said he’s “tired of being the bad guy for calling out studios.” He also appeared to take issue with other performers who’ve remained silent with regard to calling out studios’ lack of diversity, writing that “none of y’all are doing it”:

Ricky Larkin replied that “studios will book what their fan base is paying to see,” and the debate continued from there, as seen below:

Ricky Larkin then posted the below note to further explain his thoughts on the issue:

Küper said that while he agreed with Larkin’s statement, he was talking about performers on camera, not behind-the-scenes work:

After Larkin claimed that there aren’t enough “sexy black men in porn because there is no future in porn for these men,” Küper cited popular and successful performers Max Konnor and Rhyheim Shabazz as proof that Larkin’s statement was incorrect.

Then, Larkin posted a 54-second video reply to Küper, Konnor, and Shabazz that apparently expounded upon his last tweet, but the video was quickly deleted. But, Küper recorded 12 seconds of the video, in which Larkin said, “There are just not that many good looking black guys in porn. It’s that simple. If there were better looking black guys in porn, there would be more black men shot for major studios.”

Küper stated that he was only able to record the portion of the video above before Larkin deleted the tweet, so it’s not clear what Larkin said in the remaining 42 seconds of his video. Regardless, it’s the studios that need to do a better job casting and recruiting, and saying that there aren’t enough good looking black performers is irrelevant (not to mention false)—as if a black performer not being “hot enough” excuses a studio’s overall lack of diversity? And remember, studios hire plenty of white guys who many consider to be unattractive, so being good looking isn’t always a requirement for gay porn.

I reached out to Larkin to find out what else was in the full video, and Larkin said that he’d be sending me the video. As of post time, I haven’t received it. Here were some of the responses to Larkin’s video, including replies from Miller Axton, Max Konnor, MixMonsterMeat, and Ricky Donovan (Sean Cody’s Asher):
