It took four days to count the votes, but earlier this morning, Joe Biden was projected to be the winner of the 2020 election, and he’ll become the 46th president of the United States once Trump is booted from the White House on January 20th. After being decisively rejected by voters, Trump is now one of only 10 U.S. presidents who’ve failed to win a second term.
Biden had 290 electoral votes as of today (surpassing the 270 that were needed) after flipping states that voted for Trump in 2016, including Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin. He’s also likely to flip Georgia once that state’s recount is complete, giving him a total of 306 electoral votes.
