Answered Prayers, Dirty Rascals, Helix Academy Lead 2015 Grabbys Nominations
The 2015 Grabbys nominations honoring the best in gay porn have just been announced, and the complete list is below. For the second year in a row, the show will be held at the Metro Theater in Chicago over Memorial Day Weekend.
As revealed yesterday, this year’s Grabbys co-hosts—who join permanent hosts Chi Chi LaRue and Honey West— include Tayte Hanson, Billy Santoro, Ryan Rose, Boomer Banks, and Jimmy Fanz. That’s the most solid line-up of A-list co-hosts since I started covering these awards six years ago, as all of them can read, all of them are charismatic public speakers, and—most importantly—all of them have enormous fanbases, which will come in handy for promoting the show.
This year, the Grabbys got rid of the Art Direction category (maybe because so many movies are filmed on boxes in empty rooms?) and also the “Best Non-Sexual Performance” category, as there likely weren’t enough performances to nominate (I can’t think of any off the top of my head). Also, the Grabbys have a new partner in Squirt.org, so there’s a new category called, aptly enough, “Squirt.org Fan Favorite.” Prepare to see your Twitter feeds cluttered with even more goddamn “VOTE FOR ME!” tweets for the next three months.
As usual, there are too many names in the various performer categories. What kind of bragging rights can anyone really claim if they’re nominated alongside literally 30 other people? Nominees in categories like Newcomer, Top, Bottom, Performer Of The Year, etc. should be limited to five.
