[UPDATED] Supreme Court Closes Term With Ruling On Porn Site Age Verification Law

The drama queens at the Supreme Court have saved the best for last, with their ruling on Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton (a.k.a. the entire porn industry vs. Texas’ age verification law for porn sites) set to be revealed tomorrow (Friday), the final day of the court’s term before they leave for summer recess. This post will be updated in the coming hours after the ruling is published. Summary via SCOTUS Blog:

Free Speech Coalition v. Paxton (argued Jan. 15): This case stems from a challenge by a trade group for the adult entertainment industry to a 2023 Texas law that requires pornography sites to verify the age of their users before providing access. The law applies to any website offering content “more than one-third of which is sexual material harmful to minors.” The question that the justices agreed to decide was whether the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit properly applied a less stringent constitutional test, known as rational basis review, when reviewing the law, or whether it should have instead applied a more stringent standard, known as strict scrutiny.

As Str8Up reported back in January when the case was argued, Trump’s Supreme Court will likely be upholding all of the unconstitutional online porn “age verification” laws that have been passed by right-wing christofascist groups in one-third (and growing) of U.S. states. The court is likely to reduce most of the First Amendment protection afforded to online pornography, affecting hundreds of millions of Americans’ constitutional right to view adult content. As noted earlier, you can thank brain dead Devin Franco, Hatler Gurius, Alex Grant, Ricky Larkin, Big C, and all the other MAGA morons who chose to destroy their own lives by voting for Trump and in turn his Supreme Court. And as always, you have to find comfort in the little things: At least it’ll be funny to watch them and all the other MAGAts suffer miserably.

This is a developing story…

UPDATE:

As expected, Trump’s Supreme Court has ruled in favor of violating Americans’ First Amendment rights, and in the 6-3 ruling, they’ve upheld Texas’ unconstitutional “age verification” law.

Adults who choose to look at adult content in Texas and nearly half of the other states in this decaying wasteland of a country will have to upload a government-issued ID, and porn sites that don’t have age verification systems to validate government IDs will be fined $10,000 per day. As reported previously, rather than implement the government ID systems (which are vulnerable to hacking, theft, viruses, and more) on their platforms, Pornhub, Sean Cody, and several other porn studios have simply blocked access to everyone living in Texas, Arkansas, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Idaho, Indiana, Montana, Nebraska, and Utah.
