Julianna Margulies Tries To Walk Back Bigoted Comments Against Gays And Blacks: “I Am Horrified”
Here were The Good Wife actress’s remarks on a podcast last month, in which Margulies said that because she plays a lesbian journalist on TV, she’s offended by gays who support Palestine. She seems totally sane:
listen to julianna margulies go on an absolutely unhinged rant against black people for supporting palestine, claiming muslims would play soccer ball with the decapitated heads of black queer people if they could, and saying she knows better as someone who played a lesbian on tv. https://t.co/IhoKvLdU85 pic.twitter.com/OJZAzxDrA2

And, of course, here she is today trying to walk back the insane comments, via Deadline:
Emmy winner Julianna Margulies says she is “horrified” by the reaction to a series of statements she had made about Black and LGBTQ Americans, largely college students.
“I am horrified by the fact that statements I made on a recent podcast offended the Black and LGBTQIA+ communities, communities I truly love and respect,” Margulies said in an exclusive statement to Deadline. “I want to be 100% clear: Racism, homophobia, sexism, or any prejudice against anyone’s personal beliefs or identity are abhorrent to me, full stop. Throughout my career I have worked tirelessly to combat hate of all kind, end antisemitism, speak out against terrorist groups like Hamas, and forge a united front against discrimination. I did not intend for my words to sow further division, for which I am sincerely apologetic.”
Margulies, who is Jewish, made the controversial comments on The Back Room with Andy Ostroy podcast where she railed against support for Palestine.

I loved The Good Wife (well, except for that awful final season), and now I don’t think I can ever watch it again without thinking about this deranged asshole showing her true colors on a podcast. On the bright side, at least the whole Archie Panjabi feud finally makes sense.
