L.A. City Councilman Shoves Protester During Violent Brawl At Holiday Event

Here’s video from a Christmas tree lighting event attended by disgraced L.A. City Councilman Kevin de León as he’s accosted by a group of protesters. These and many other protesters have been calling for de León’s resignation after that horrific audio was leaked in which de León and several fellow council members were heard making anti-black, racist remarks. Both the man in the green jacket and de León (in the Santa hat!) have filed battery charges against each other, and it looks like both of them could be guilty:

The unidentified man in the baseball cap (who appears to be doing security for de León) is the one who seems to have escalated things, as he was first to shove the protester in the green jacket. After that, green jacket guy and all the other protesters were being extremely aggressive with de León (they’ve got him literally shoved up against a wall—what was he supposed to do?), so you can’t really blame de León for trying to push his way out of there.
