Lana Del Rey Scores 5 Grammy Noms For “Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd”
Other than the now disgraced and (nearly) defunct Golden Globes, the Grammys are perhaps the most corrupt and meaningless awards in all of entertainment. To give you an idea of the people who run the shitshow, their chief executive had to quit a couple years ago for being a psychotic misogynist, and now he’s being sued for drugging and raping a woman. And yet, for some stupid reason, it’s still nice to see some of the great talent and music receiving nominations today. Namely, Lana Del Rey.
Lana Del Rey scored five noms for her excellent “Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” including Album of the Year, Best Alternative Album, Song of the Year (for the iconic “A&W,” a fan-made video is embedded above), Best Pop Duo (for “Candy Necklace”), and Best Alternative Song (again for the sprawling masterpiece “A&W”). Of course, the Grammys failed to give Del Rey her deserved Album of the Year Grammy for “Norman Fucking Rockwell” (one of the top 10 albums of this century) back in 2020, so there’s no reason to believe they’ll get it right this year. Still, it’s fun to hope, I guess. The best track on the album, the sublimely sweet “Sweet”:
List of several nominees is below, including a gay-as-hell battle between Kylie Minogue and Troye Sivan in a dance category, and plenty for the eternally worthless Taylor Swift, who has singlehandedly destroyed the music industry over the last decade by managing (with her greedy corporate record label’s help) to hypnotize pathetic teen girls and brain dead gays into being obsessed zombies, despite the fact that Swift is the most empty, useless, and absolute worst “singer” and “performer” in history.
