Los Angeles News Station KTLA Apologizes After Tweeting N-Word

A “technical error”? We’ve all made mistakes on social media, but there’s no way to tweet a racial slur without it being deliberate. Also, other than selecting which languages you want to read (English, Spanish, etc.), there’s nothing in Twitter settings having to do with “language filters.” You can of course “mute” certain words or phrases that you’re not interested in, but why would a news organization want to prevent any words, even a racial slur, from showing up in their feed? That’s…appalling! Via The Wrap:

KTLA released an apology Friday morning after its official X account tweeted a one-word tweet containing the N-word due to a purported “technical error.” The tweet was quickly spotted the morning of April 11 by users online, who screenshotted and began sharing it before KTLA could delete it. Afterward, the local Los Angeles news station issued an apology.

That apology is above. The now deleted tweet has of course been screenshotted and shared over and over again.
