Luigi Mangione Fighting Extradition To New York, Shouts At Media While Being Led Into Court: “An Insult To The American People!”
“It’s completely out of touch, and an insult to the intelligence of the American people and their lived experience!” Luigi Mangione shouted while being dragged into an extradition hearing in Pennsylvania today.
The “it” he’s referring to could he his arrest and prosecution, or maybe he’s talking about the “healthcare” industry in general and how it destroys people’s lives. Either way, an insanity defense seems more and more likely for Luigi, especially given the fact that he’s suggesting the American people are “intelligent.” You’d have to be fuckin’ crazy to think something like that. At the hearing following the outburst, Luigi revealed that he’ll be fighting the extradition to New York, which is a bit of a surprise, but he’s only delaying the inevitable. He’ll eventually be moved to NYC in the next month or so, where he’s now facing a second degree murder charge. It’s not clear why the state went with second degree over first degree (which includes premeditation), but perhaps second degree is a simpler thing to prove and makes the DA’s job easier.
