Meet Queerty’s Gay Porn-Loving Co-Owners Scott Gatz And Chris Bull

Scott-and-Chris-600x431The Queerty co-owners (Scott Gatz, above left; Chris Bull, above right) who co-founded parent company Gay Cities (an increasingly obsolete “gay travel” website that’s only being kept alive by Stoli vodka) in 2008 absolutely love writing about gay porn on Queerty, but good luck getting them to use their real names while doing it.

For years, it’s been unclear who’s writing all of Queerty’s gay porn-related articles (which I documented yesterday), since each article’s byline reads “EDITORS,” but thanks to a source, I can now report that it’s editorial director Chris Bull and Gay Cities CEO Scott Gatz in charge of all the gay porn at Queerty. And, the Queerty article yesterday that porn-shamed competitor The Advocate for buying ads on porn sites? It was written by Chris Bull and approved by Scott Gatz, despite that infamous “EDITORS” byline.

My source inside Queerty:

The article was written by Chris Bull and approved by Scott Gatz. Most other staff opposed it based on your argument.

That argument: Queerty porn-shaming The Advocate for buying ads on porn sites when Queerty itself publishes gay pornographic photos and stories to increase page views is laughable at best and unethical at worst.

Speaking of unethical, Queerty editor Chris Bull was an editor at The Advocate for 10 years up until 2004, but he failed to disclose that in his lengthy hit piece on The Advocate yesterday. Oops. Maybe he thought hiding behind the “EDITORS” byline would make that OK?

Why is Chris Bull so afraid to use his real name when publishing stories about gay porn or writing takedowns of his competitors and former employers? My source explains:

[Bull] doesn’t want to be associated with porn or anything potentially scandalous because it would harm his snobby reputation. You see the ‘EDITORS’ byline usually when staff have been forced to author a pitch from Gatz or Bull. Easily more than half of the articles pictured in your post are these.

Hiding behind anonymous bylines? What a load of…bull. Pseudonyms and anonymity are supposed to be tools for internet trolls, not CEOs and editors of highly-trafficked “news” websites like Queerty. Why are Scott Gatz and Chris Bull so afraid to admit that they write about gay porn all day, every day on Queerty?
