Multiple People Dead After Ship Crashes Into Brooklyn Bridge
A Mexican Navy ship reportedly lost power and was pulled down New York’s East River before slamming into the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday night, killing at least two people while injuring nearly 20 more. The ship, “Cuauhtémoc,” is 300-feet long with over 260 crew members, and the Mexican consulate announced earlier this week that it would be arriving at Pier 17, where people were welcome to visit for free. Just before it crashed, there were dozens of sailors doing a ceremonial performance on top of the ship’s masts, and at least two of them were killed. Video taken seconds after the crash shows sailors hanging from the sails and masts:

Why were people on the masts of the ship that hit Brooklyn Bridge? The captain should face charges—not just for bad taste. Huge ship with Mexican flags hit the bridge. Hope everyone’s okay. He shouldn’t be near boats again.#NewYork #BrooklynBridge #Mexicopic.twitter.com/ZKOKhamh5D https://t.co/jUkSfHpEjP
