Porn Studios Shut Down Productions After Performer Tests Positive For HIV
PASS—the organization that monitors adult industry STD testing for models working with dozens of studios in straight and gay porn—has reported today that a performer has tested positive for HIV. PASS has called for an immediate shut down of all porn productions while additional testing is completed on other performers. The PASS statement:
This morning, PASS was alerted that a performer, who had not tested with PASS in several months, had tested positive for HIV. Any performer who has had contact with them is being contacted and retested. We have been advised by the PASS testing facility that there does not appear to be a threat to the performer pool. However, in an abundance of caution, we are calling for a precautionary production hold. We expect to have full results for all tests by Tuesday, and will make a decision to lift the hold as soon as those results are back.
This is the first instance of an HIV-positive test result leading to an industry-wide shut down since 2013, when porn star Rod Daily tested positive for HIV.
While most gay studios conduct testing for models, not all of them use PASS (Helix Studios does testing, for example, but they don’t use PASS), so not everyone will be abiding by the PASS call to shut down. At least three models—Johnny B., Michael Del Ray, and Chris Damned—had their productions at unnamed studios shut down today, as seen in the tweets below. This is a developing story…
