While his death occurred nearly a month ago, the news of gay porn star Jasper Robinson’s passing has just been made public. He was 21 years old. Via longtime friend and fellow performer Phillip Ashton:

Robinson’s ex-boyfriend, Ryker Madison, also posted his thoughts tonight on Twitter:

Robinson performed in dozens of gay porn scenes for Helix Studios, Boy Crush, NextDoorStudios, and CockyBoys over the past three years. He announced his retirement last October, but was still active on social media up until the day before his death. His final scenes were released last summer. A source tells Str8UpGayPorn that Robinson suffered from a heart condition, and that may have played a role in his death. This post will be updated when and if more details become available.

Robinson is the third gay porn star to die in as many months. Another Helix Studios performer, Zac Stevens, committed suicide just four days before Robinson’s death, on December 9th. Two weeks before that, performer Dimitri Kane took his own life in Florida.

    So very sad, R.I.P. Jasper.

  • n24rc

    Was it drugs?

    • WhimsyCotton

You are just class in a glass aren’t ya?

  • Cosmic

How many does this make now?

  • Al

That’s just beyond words. But I will try. 21 is no age to die. My heart goes out to all affected by this tragedy. The second I saw the two pics of him side by side, I had this chill. Another brother from another mother taken far, far too soon. R.I.P.

  • Okosan

Poor lives at such young ages.

  • Tim

someone needs to do a study. even though gay porn stars are overwhelmingly young men (and young men are the biggest suicide demographic) one has to wonder if, per capita, gay porn stars are as much more likely than the equivalent populations to commit suicide as it seems.

I mean, how many distinct guys can have perform in say, 5 or more scenes in the past 2 years or maybe 10 or more scenes in the past 3-5 for a top 20 or 25ish gay porn studio. would take some effort to count, compare that to suicides and come up with a rough number.

I guess this needs done at some point. thing is, who would fund such a study?

    • McM.

A study with the parameters you provided is far too specific, and b/c the data collected would simply provide a figure rather than showing an ongoing trend within the industry, it’s not likely to get funding. What you should look for are studies on a specific population of sex workers; porn actors, escorts, dancers, etc. all fall under that umbrella, and it is rare that activities remain in a single venue. By focusing on film appearances, studies could be missing important elements.

      • Tim

I guess it would depend on the type of study. I think the hard numbers proving there is an issue would be the first step for something more comprehensive, but my degrees are in Philosophy and History so I would have no clue the threshold for such.

    On Death
    Kahlil Gibran

You would know the secret of death.
But how shall you find it unless you seek it in the heart of life?
The owl whose night-bound eyes are blind unto the day cannot unveil the mystery of light.
If you would indeed behold the spirit of death, open your heart wide unto the body of life.
For life and death are one, even as the river and the sea are one.

    In the depth of your hopes and desires lies your silent knowledge of the beyond;
And like seeds dreaming beneath the snow your heart dreams of spring.
Trust the dreams, for in them is hidden the gate to eternity.
Your fear of death is but the trembling of the shepherd when he stands before the king whose hand is to be laid upon him in honour.
Is the shepherd not joyful beneath his trembling, that he shall wear the mark of the king?
Yet is he not more mindful of his trembling?

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and to melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing, but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God unencumbered?

Only when you drink from the river of silence shall you indeed sing.
And when you have reached the mountain top, then you shall begin to climb.
And when the earth shall claim your limbs, then shall you truly dance.

    • Dazzer

      Thank you for that.

      • Zealot

So welcome. I just thought….this kid is 21 and he has everything to live for, or so it would seem. No matter why he died, I just felt that starting 2016 with another young gay man lost and all that potential….it’s just very bracing. Gibran is a go to for me in so many situations. When I feel I have a handle on something, Gibran’s poetry shows me that I don’t know anything and need to re-evaluate what I believe to be real.

    RIP

  • R.I.P. Really is sad all the Gay Porn Stars who have passed away. I hope his death was only linked to his heart condition. I’m 19 and have cardiovascular disease. I know there is a few young men out here living with a condition like mine, though it’s not common. I just would find it even more sad if he passed away because he committed suicide or from a drug overdose that was linked to him not being able to live with the fact he did porn. Very sad story. may he rest in peace.

    • FrenchBug

If you check his Twitter feed, he was retweeting stills of his porn scenes on the day before his death. Whatever he passed away from, it wasn’t porn-shame suicide. He seemed to be pretty comfortable with himself in that way – which makes the abruptness of his passing even crueler IMO.
As for you, take good care of yourself. I can’t imagine what it is like to live with a condition like that. My sympathy.

      • Oh sorry I have not read his Twitter feed yet. But thank you for informing me of that. <3 & Also thank you for being kind. Yes it is hard living with it. But with taking Prescription medications on a daily basis for it, getting a EKG done every 3 months, And having a holter monitor done yearly it extremely helps. As for my case the only symptoms/annoying things linked to it that I deal with on a daily basis are tachycardia, chest pain, edema. I am thankful that I can continue to live and be healthy! You just have to take care of yourself and the chances are slim in my case. I hope you take good care of yourself also.

        • steve adams

You sound like a great guy — take care of yourself!

        • Kiwini

Just remember if you have a medical condition or are taking prescription drugs, mixing those with alcohol and other substances can often have unintended consequences

          • I’m well aware. Alcohol for me is out of the question as I have been living with Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or NASH is a moderate, often “silent killer” liver disease. The nonalcoholic part means I didn’t drink alcohol or am not an alcohol to cause my type of Liver Disease. It’s believed I developed liver damage first from Depakote, an anticonvulsant (med for treatment of seizures) in mid 2013 (I was 15 at the times, now im 19) then in January 2014 I had got my monthly blood liver enzymes test back and it showed moderate to severe damage. By August 2014 I was diagnosed with Liver Disease (Moderate Steatohepatitis). Also after receiving my tests back I got done to study my liver disease (Ultra sound, CT SCAN, HIDA Scan, Liver biopsy) It had shown ultimately for lack of a better term My genetic make up was bound for me to develop this disease. But also I had been taking Vicodin (Hydrocodone w/ acetaminophen) Since 2008 from my chronic back problems scoliosis w/ spondylolisthesis, spinal stenosis, sciatica caused by me being jumped at school from a group of 3 homophobes. I know this is a long story lol I’m almost done i promise. So ultimately the acetaminophen (tylenol) in the opiate medication vicodin helped to cause my liver disease more rapidly. Very frustrated as opiates don’t cause liver damage, it’s the tylenol they put with the medications such as vicodin and percocet. As of 2014 I am banned from taking tylenol and my pain management doctor has me on Morphine Sulfate 60MG E.R. (MS CONTIN) It helps my pain caused from my back, congenital heart disease, and helps my mood. So in conclusion yes I am aware Prescription drugs & alcohol often, well actually can & WILL have unintended consequences if you are not treated by a certified doctor who cares and takes the time at appointments for routine ekgs, blood tests, physicals, etc. I am lucky now to go to a top of the line physicians office that specializes in pain management, Heart disease, grastrontentional, diabetes (thank god I do NOT have diabetes) & MOST importantly what most offices claim they do, preventative care. Shout out to B-L Family Practice, there the top of the line doc office I’m talking about lol if you live in South Carolina they are worth the drive and money. :)

          • Oh and also this is my med list, aka the drugs I’m prescribed for my medical issues that most 80 year olds don’t have. :
Xanax 1mg (PTSD, G.A.D., Panic disorder, seizures)
            Lisinopril for my heart issues.
HCTZ for edema caused by my heart issues and liver disease
            Ms. Contin for chronic pain
Adderall For ADD, & Depression. (Helps a lot for my depression which is why I listed that as a treatment for it)
One thing I’ve learned is that positivity is the key, and that these diagnosis don’t define me. :)
I apologize for the long paragraphs but I want to get the word out there and that is if you are someone like me and have to take medications to live/function. No One should judge you for it. Only time you should be looked at differently is if you abuse medications.

  • John

I really liked him in his scenes. He was one of the few pornstars from WA state. So sad.

    • Porn Star

Few??? Trenton Ducati, Jimmy Durano, Billy Santoro, Seth Santoro, Cass Bolton, Tony Buff, Micah Brandt, Sebastian Kross, Tyler Rush, Shawn Wolfe, Alexander Gustavo…..the list goes on.

      • John

I didn’t know! I’d be very happy to welcome Sepastian Kross back home;-) Thanks correcting me.

        • Porn Star

He’s straight as are most ‘gay’ porn stars

          • John

According to an interview on another site with the intials Q*N:
Do you consider yourself gay, bi, or straight?

            Bisexual.

Are you top, bottom, or versatile?

Top so far. I wouldn’t mind bottoming but I’ve never tried it. I’ve had
my ass fingered and actually enjoyed it. But I’m going to have to take
            baby steps I think haha.

          • Porn Star

Most G4P performers say that so not to lose their gay fans. I know Sebastian personally. He’s not hooking up with men off camera I can assure you.

          • John

I don’t doubt your insiders perspective, but so many gay4pay stars go OUT OF THEIR WAY to say they are straight and straight only outside of porn, such as Aiden and Conner from CF. I’m surprised he wouldn’t get on the denial bandwagon. Have a good day:-)

          • Porn Star

He doesn’t work for the “Straight” studios: CF, SC, RB, Chaos- They typically only cast straight guys… He works for Falcon which is big on having gay talent.

      • WillG

Brent Corrigan is also from WA.

      • Roman Heart and Benjamin Bradley are from WA as well.

      • Andy Cœur

Sorry to say, but I’m pretty sure that Trenton is from Texas, and he doesn’t even live in WA. Jimmy Durano is Brazilian and just recently moved to WA. As far as I know Alexander Gustavo is from AK, Billy Santoro is from Philly, and Micah Brandt is either from California or Colorado. Sebastian is definitely from NorCal (Sacramento) and just recently moved to Vegas. Not sure about Tony Buff, but I always thought he was from the East Coast. Idk about Shawn Wolfe but I am under the impression he might be from California too. The only ones in this list I know are from WA are Seth Santoro and Tyler Rush.

    • Andy Cœur

Jasper was actually born in Oklahoma, though most porn cites say he was from North Carolina (grew up there). He just moved to WA few years ago, before he moved to SF.

  • Porn Star

I don’t know his depression etc that drove him to this conclusion. But the fact in this industry is that it’s easy to fall into the “Nobody is booking me anymore, what am I going to do” crossroads. Get an education! If your truly love adult work, then get your degree in web design, marketing, film etc and grow beyond being a performer. The internet has killed the shelf life of performers…use it for what it is. It’s fun, easy money where you get to see the world. Plan B is necessary in all careers. If I had a nickel for every time a performer has come to me about not getting booked and their obvious low self esteem because of it, I would be super rich! Take care of yourself first!!!

    • Estelle

You make good points, but for a lot of performers there is no plan B because they zoomed past it and this (porn) is plan Z. Also 20 years into the internet age, it’s mind boggling that talent are still shocked that friends/family find out they are doing porn or that being a performer can/does limit your ability to get into certain professions. There are also plenty of guys that think they will get a sugar daddy and that they will be able to ride that wave out of porn and into the good life and that almost never happens and the same story of a performer leaving porn worse off financially then they were before starting porn repeats itself over and over again. Naivety and the “everyone is in it for themselves” attitude is what drives people to get in and ultimately drives them out.

Again your points are good, but you are also looking at it from a different perspective. I mean you didn’t get into to porn at 21 with very little life experience or a limited worldview like a lot of performers on both sides of the industry do.

      • Zealot

You also make some valid points. And add to all that has been said….if you try to leave porn for something else, porn never leaves you. Once those pictures and videos are out there, they’re there for good and all….and let’s ask this….how many porn actors find getting work difficult once they try to leave that world just because of society’s ideas and presumptions about them? Maybe it’s gotten better. Let’s hope so.

        • OneOfTheManyChris

I think it’s gotten worse, actually. The stigma was lower in the seventies, got worse in the eighties, and is lower now, but it really depends on who you talk to. There are certain jobs where no one cares. But the real reason I think it’s worse is social media. A lot of middle to lower porn stars in the past just dyed their hair and vanished and no one ever figured it out.

          • NIFP

I find it interesting that quite a few have been able to go into healthcare. I have been licensed in 7 states, and let me tell you, those background checks are extensive and intrusive. And depending on the particular wording of a state’s practice act, they can basically deny your license for violating what amounts to a morality clause.

          • Helen Damnation ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

            Otherwise known as “moral turptitude”…

          • NIFP

And goodness knows I’ve been guilty of that, but I managed to keep it from being filmed. 😉

    • Justin Trenton

Where are the rich gay porn stars? Why would they think they could get rich off porn? Maybe if they start off with porn, are very hot and that leads to escorting. Then maybe, if they save their money, then maybe they can live off porn. For most, its just a way to make some quick money. I’m surprised anyone would think they could live off porn. Most porn stars are around for about 3-4 years. Then a new fresh batch of porn stars appear. It’s not a career. Its just a way to make a quick buck.

      • WhimsyCotton

He didn’t get rich off of gay porn, but the bitch is rich. And yes, I know he’s the exception to the rule.

    • Andy Cœur

We might be missing the mark that depression is an actual medical condition and that may not have much to do with having plans or alternatives… and I can assure Jasper had plenty of those! He moved to SF full of hopes and plans. He was a very talented guy: he sang, danced, painted, wrote and acted; he was very excited about going back to school this term (he was already enrolled), he had a job, a nice group of friends and family in the city, whom he saw daily. He has a dog he loved and was also raising a cat. He was also thinking about taking some art classes, and was looking into maybe starting a small business. I know he quit porn because of personal reasons, and not because they weren’t calling him; in fact, he got a lot of offers that he’d turn down because he had others things to do.

  • RaJ

    RIP

  • WhimsyCotton

21 is too young to die to anything. I just hope he was happy in his final days.

  • seeker630

Several posts here assume he committed suicide. While suicide is a problem worth discussion, it’s worth noting that at this point there’s no information, as far as I am aware, that Jasper Robinson took his own life.

    • OneOfTheManyChris

Having followed him on social media, I can say that he destroyed a car while under the influence of controlled substances, took medications for Crohn’s disease, and used a substantial amount of weed. But there’s nothing in his recent history to suggest he was extremely sick.

      • sxg

so, accidental OD maybe? Or maybe he mixed his prescription and recreational drugs and he unknowingly created a death cocktail similar to that of Joey Kovar from Real World Hollywood.

  • Justin Matthews

If he wasn’t in the industry he would have died anyways and the outrage hypocrites would have less to whine about…..go to gyms already..

  • Sad news, rest in peace dear boy!

  • You know its easy to sit back and condemn or assume you know why a person is having such severe problems that have led to severe depression and too often these days…suicide. I wish people spent less time speculating on how someone was feeling, or what drove them to take their life, and instead focus on maybe doing something that will actually help these boys. like advocating for these studio’s who are the only truly ones getting rich, to make manadatory medical or psychological counseling for anyone having a hard time dealing with the ups and downs of the rollercoaster of this crazy business. I see nothing wrong in asking these studio’s to form like a fund or a maybe even a type of sex workers union, so that when the tough times come, as they will for EVERYONE at some point, there is help out there for them. Benefits for these boys to me should be a no-brainier. Hollywood was smart enough to form an artist union, so that there was resources, medical benefits, and even 401k retirement funds for when the party of being a star ends… Same type of future should be given to these guys. Its a tragedy so many are taking their lives because they think their life is over… its easy to believe that when the phone stops ringing. I hope someone with some power sees this post, gets inspired, and does exactly what i am suggesting…because its the right thing to do. Thats my two cents.

    • Andy Cœur

Thanks for your words. You have a valid point. Trust me, this has been in the minds of some important people in the industry, and is an issue that might get raised in conversations each time news like these occur… I can assure you I will be raising it again, and talking to some rather influential members of the industry about this.

  • 1234

People, don’t be offended, but I do have a legitimate question: I heard that Jasper Robinson really did end his life (depression??), not that he passed away from a heart ailment. Can anyone please confirm or deny these allegations? I asked the person who made that claim, but there was no reply (maybe I wasn’t allowed to ask?). Thank you

  • tantra

I do not know what caused his death but according to his father’s FB page, he tested positive for HIV last year.

  • Asher Daman

I’m surprised so many people give a damn about a dirty, cumslut. Nobody beyond the industry will even miss this filth.
