Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead in their Los Angeles home by their daughter, Romy, multiple sources tell PEOPLE. According to the sources, Rob and Michele were killed by their son, Nick.
It seems crazy that sources (I assume within the LAPD) would leak the name of the killer so definitively to People while the bodies are still warm, but these are crazy times. Rob Reiner and his wife were stabbed to death, and their son Nick had been battling drug addiction for years. More via TMZ:
Our sources say the two suffered lacerations consistent with a knife. The LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division is still investigating. Dispatch audio captures a firefighter calling for backup to the Brentwood mansion around 3:30 PM … though it doesn’t provide any further information about the circumstances in the abode.
From Stand By Me and Misery and The Princess Bride to When Harry Met Sally and A Few Good Men, Reiner had an incomparable run in the 80’s and 90’s. It’s hard enough for a director to have one movie that’s considered a classic, but Reiner had several films that many people might put on their best of all time lists. For me it might be Stand By Me, with that heartbreaking ending:
