Surprise: Frank Ocean Pulls Out Of Coachella Weekend 2
One train wreck weekend was apparently enough for Frank Ocean. Pulling out of weekend two is a very smart move, given that he was woefully unprepared for the headlining spot during the first weekend (never mind the fact that he doesn’t have the song catalog or performance cred worthy of the slot). Via Variety:
Frank Ocean will not be performing his scheduled headlining slot at Coachella this Sunday, a rep for the singer confirms to Variety. A source close to the situation says his spot will be taken by Blink-182.
The statement reads: “Frank Ocean will not be performing at weekend 2 of Coachella.”
Will people who bought tickets to see Frank Ocean be satisfied with Blink-182? I remember they had two or three catchy songs 25 years ago.
Coachella has always been a pointless and overpriced mess, but now it feels like more of a blatant scam. It’s also still owned by a right-wing billionaire who funds anti-LGBT groups, but I guess the supposedly woke Gen Z’ers flocking to the desert shitshow are willing to let that slide. How tolerant of them.
But wait, there’s more from the Ocean statement:
“After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1. Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity. On doctor’s advice, [Ocean] is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”
