Texas State Representative Says He’ll File Legislation To Ban Drag Queens
Uvalde was two weeks ago, and one might think there are more pressing issues in the state of Texas. But no, Texas State Representative Bryan Slaton would like to ban drag queens:
Drag shows are no place for a child.
I would never take my children to a drag show and I know Speaker Dade Phelan and my Republican colleagues wouldn’t either.
I will be filing legislation to address this issue in the new #txlege . pic.twitter.com/R7NkX7ADBR

The drag show causing the “outrage” (reminder: these politicians do not give one single fuck about any child) was at a Drag Your Kids To Pride event in Dallas over the weekend. Video outside the venue from a Texas GOP bigot shows him accosting parents and performers (not to mention exploiting the children who were there) while lambasting the queens for “dancing for little children,” which he called “the most evil event” ever seen in his “entire life.” Again, Uvalde was two weeks ago, and this freak is concerned with people in costumes dancing and walking a faux runway with children. If lawmakers cared about children, they’d be pushing for assault weapons bans to keep children from being, you know, murdered. Instead, it’s a trick right out of the Republican playbook to gain more power and control: Demonize a marginalized group using lies and propaganda to stoke fear and disgust among voters.
