Texas University President Cancels Drag Show, Citing “Misogyny” While Comparing Drag To Blackface
While there would always be far right goons preaching hate on the fringes, it felt like so much of this nonsense was dying off after gay marriage was legalized by the Supreme Court in 2015. Eight years later, the psycho bigots are having a comeback of sorts, and it’s being embraced by many (not all) Republicans. Why? Social media has emboldened a lot of the hatred and allowed it to spread. Also, drag has exploded over the last 10 years, and as it’s become part of mainstream popular culture, the Christian fascists have become increasingly unhinged. Via WTAMU:
