I guess I’m OK with Tom Ford making one movie per decade, given the greatness of his previous two films, A Single Man (2009) and Nocturnal Animals (2016). The new one is based on an Anne Rice novel called Cry To Heaven, and it’ll feature the film acting debut of Adele alongside Nicholas Hoult, Colin Firth, and more. Via Deadline:

Sources tell Deadline that Ford has confirmed he will direct an adaptation of the Anne Rice novel Cry to Heaven. The screenplay has been written by Ford, who is also directing and producing through his Fade To Black production company. Set in 18th century Italy, the film stars Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Adele (in her movie debut), CiarĂ¡n Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannemann and Lux Pascal.

The film is in pre-production now in London, and it’s expected to be released late next year.
