Woman Arrested For DUI While Driving Golf Cart On I-95 With Bottle Of Jack Daniel’s “Tennessee Fire”
I’d give anything to see the bodycam footage of the arrest. Via WESH2 in you-know-where:
Florida Highway Patrol responded to a call about a golf cart driving on I-95 Saturday.
Callers reported seeing a golf cart northbound near mile marker 167, and troopers arrived around 7:39 p.m.
According to troopers, Diane Hawk, 58, was argumentative and disoriented when they saw her in the driver’s seat of the golf cart.
Hawk handed troopers on the scene a restaurant card and a credit card when they asked her for her driver’s license.
When asked why she was on I-95, she claimed she needed to get to State Road 528 and that it was legal to drive a golf cart on I-95.
Alcohol could be smelled on Hawk’s breath as Florida Highway Patrol talked to her and troopers say she also had slurred speech.
A witness who was driving a tractor-trailer on I-95 saw Hawk passing out as she was driving the golf cart.
The witness told troopers she used her tractor-trailer to guide the golf cart to the right shoulder and was able to take Hawk’s keys when Hawk attempted to drive on I-95 again.
Troopers say a bottle of alcohol, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire, was found in Hawk’s purse after she refused to get into the patrol car if she didn’t have her purse.
Hawk continued resisting arrest.
She was transported to the Florida Highway Patrol Cocoa Station before being sent to the Brevard County Jail.
