No Deal: Drake Von Going To Trial For DUI!
There will be no plea deal for gay porn star Drake Von (legal name Dawson Bacon) as he faces a DUI charge in Las Vegas, and his trial is now set for November 10th after pleading not guilty yesterday. Von was arrested earlier this summer after crashing his Tesla into another vehicle, and police found over a dozen nitrous oxide tanks in his car. In addition to the DUI, prosecutors recently added two misdemeanor traffic counts, as you can see in the docket below.
The majority of first offense DUIs don’t go to trial, and it’s unclear why Von’s attorney didn’t arrange a plea bargain or convince Von to just plead guilty. Now that the disgraced gay-for-pay porn star is wasting the court’s time with a bench trial where he’ll face a judge (there’s no jury in a bench trial), he risks being sent to prison for six months if convicted.
At the end of police bodycam footage below (recorded in the hospital shortly after Von’s crash), Von agrees to undergo testing that would show if he was impaired. Via TMZ:
Results of the testing are unknown, but as more police bodycam footage below shows, Von was arrested in the hospital a few moments later. Given prosecutors are proceeding with their case, one would assume they must have some kind of evidence. Via TMZ:
As you’ll of course recall, Von has also been charged in a separate case with felony domestic battery by strangulation, felony coercion of domestic violence using physical force, two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery, and felony robbery. A restraining order is in place ordering Von to stay away from his alleged victim, and there’s a preliminary hearing set for August 24th. In this case, Von faces up to 27 years behind bars if convicted.
