[UPDATED] Exclusive: Drake Von Charged With Felony Robbery, Now Faces 27 Years In Prison
This story has been updated below.
Gay-for-pay porn star Drake Von, whose legal name is Dawson Bacon, appeared in a Clark County courtroom this morning to be formally charged following his arrest earlier this month for allegedly beating his girlfriend in their Las Vegas home, and Str8UpGayPorn can now confirm that in addition to the first three counts already reported, Bacon has been charged with two more counts today: Felony robbery and misdemeanor domestic battery. That’s an additional domestic battery count, and it’s not yet known if this means there was a second victim, or if it’s for a second instance of battery on the same victim. It’s also not yet known whom Bacon is accused of violently robbing, but Str8Up is working to obtain the full criminal complaint for complete details.
Bacon’s three initial counts were felony domestic battery by strangulation, felony coercion of domestic violence using physical force, and misdemeanor domestic battery. In the formal complaint today, the prosecution left all three of those charges in place while adding felony robbery and the additional domestic battery count. Felony robbery—a violent crime in which a suspect takes property from someone using force, violence, or threat—carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison in Nevada. If convicted on all three felony counts, Bacon faces a total of up to 27 years behind bars.
As Str8Up reported exclusively on Monday this week, Dawson Bacon was also charged with DUI after being arrested over the weekend. That case is pending and expected to be handled separately out of court. A status update on the robbery and domestic violence case is scheduled for July 1st, and Bacon is not due in court for that hearing.
To summarize, Bacon now has three different pending criminal cases filed against him containing nine charges. Case 1: Driving without a license, driving without proof of insurance, and driving without registration. Case 2: DUI. Case 3: Felony robbery, two counts misdemeanor domestic battery, felony domestic battery by strangulation, and felony coercion of domestic violence using physical force.
During his appearance today for the robbery and domestic violence complaint filing, Bacon was forced to submit to DNA testing, which is now the law in Nevada for anyone arrested on felony charges. Bacon’s DNA profile will be entered into an FBI database for storage and additional testing. The full docket including today’s events and the additional charges is below. This is a developing story…
UPDATE 7/1:
A status check and formal arraignment was held today, July 1st, and Bacon’s case is moving forward with all three felony charges still in place. No negotiations or plea deals were offered. The state requested a restraining order against Bacon, which the court granted, and he’s to have no contact with his victim(s). A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 22nd, and the updated docket is below.
As noted above, the case wasn’t negotiated today, but that could change in the coming weeks. Dawson Bacon has retained attorney Jack Buchanan, a Las Vegas criminal defense lawyer who defended professional boxer Roger Mayweather back in 2009. Mayweather was charged with felony battery by strangulation, felony coercion with force, and felony battery resulting in substantial bodily harm, and two of those charges are identical to two of Bacon’s charges. Buchanan negotiated a plea deal that downgraded the felony charges to two misdemeanor counts of battery, and Mayweather was able to avoid prison time.
