Friends, Loved Ones, Co-Stars, And Industry Peers Remember Alex Riley: “I Know You’ll Always Be Right Next To Me”

As the industry members who knew and loved Alex Riley begin to grieve his recent passing, many have taken to social media to share messages of love, things they wished they’d done differently, and the hopes that they’ll be reunited with Alex one day soon. Please read their messages below and click to look at their photos, and it should be abundantly clear what’s been lost. A life partner, a best friend, a brother, a person who never had a negative word to say about anyone.

When I approached Alex to be a presenter at the last awards show, he was so grateful—effusively grateful—almost as if he believed he wasn’t quite worthy of being a presenter. “Oh my God, yes, thank you! Are you sure?!” he replied. The reality, of course, was that Alex Riley was literally the one presenter I desperately wanted on stage more than anyone else. Yes, he was new, he was hot, and he was a nominee, but most of all, he would smile and say two words, and he’d have the entire room’s undivided attention. He would help make those five minutes he was up there some of the best five minutes of the night. Best of all, Alex wasn’t acting or performing when he smiled and said those two words, he was just being himself. I thanked him profusely and hoped that he had a great night, and when I later saw him with his mother on the red carpet, holding her hand and (of course) smiling, I felt that he probably did. If only we could have provided Alex with more of these great nights, and given him even a fraction of the joy that he gave to so many of us. This is a reminder to not let another day go by without doing one small thing (anything! even a friendly text message or a quick phone call to check in on an old friend) for someone else. Why else are we here?

Here’s a suggestion right now: Please donate to the verified GoFundMe set up to help pay for Alex Riley’s funeral costs, as well as shipping costs to have his belongings sent home to Texas. No family should have to worry about expenses during a time like this, so if every person reading this post donated $5, the campaign will have easily reached its goal before the end of the weekend. Take a screenshot of your receipt from the donation and either post it in the comments or email it to me (zachsire @ gmail dot com) so I can see how much you donated, and I will match all of your donations, up to $500 in total donations.

Here are Jacob Hansen, Calvin Banks, Kane Fox, and over a dozen performers and friends sharing their thoughts on the passing of Alex Riley:

Please don’t forget the GoFundMe. Just $5 (or $25!) to help remove one tiny piece of stress from an already unfathomable situation. And don’t forget to comment or email your receipt.
