Last time we heard from gay-for-pay porn star Owen Michaels, he had launched possibly the most bullshit GoFundMe campaign of all time, when he asked fans to give him $10,000 to write a book about how he became a gay-for-pay porn star. Now? He joins the ranks of Reese Rideout, Billy Brandt, Kurt Wild, Vadim Black, and Sean Cody’s Sean to go on national television to talk about, what else, being a gay-for-pay porn star. For some added public humiliation, he dragged his pathetic fiancée along.

These horrible, formulaic daytime talk shows always espouse the same awful anti-porn, anti-sex, and anti-gay rhetoric, and the two idiots here don’t have anything to say that you haven’t heard before (as you’ll recall, Reese Rideout was on this Bill Cunningham mess a few years ago doing the exact same thing). That being said, the part about the STD was fun.

Owen Michaels has posted a response and a halfhearted apology for his appearance on the show:

  • R.A.M.J

This is an act. They are being paid for this.

    • Southernguy82

You can tell it’s an act. It’s just sad to see someone humilate themselves like that.

    • nick

If you’ve ever watched Big Brother or similar shit, people will do ANYTHING to be on tv and be famous for less than 15 minutes.

  • FooFight

I’ll tell you who needs to quit something – the host of this show and his addiction to plastic surgery.

  • Pertinax

$10,000 to write a book…A book like this?

    • Pertinax

      …or this?

  • paultacoma51

After years of mulling over this subject, I’ve come to the conclusion that no “str8” man does gay porn without being at least bi. Not saying g4p guys aren’t totally str8 in their personal lives, but I am saying there’s a part of them that is willing to do it, and that’s the gay part. I think all this “I’m not gay” crap is a desperate cry of denial. I almost feel sorry for them…almost.

    • Justin Trenton

All the women in porn do lesbo scenes. On average 10% of the general public is gay, there’s no way that all those women in porn are bi/gay. They do it for money, same as the guys.

G4P isn’t that big of a deal to them. In a decade they will look very different and no one will recognize them. Only porn fanatics watch old porn. Most people just watch the stuff that comes out in the last couple years. They make some quick money for a few years then move on.

      • paultacoma51

To clarify, I’m more referring to the Kinsey scale. I’m just saying there’s at least a sliver of the gay that doesn’t recoil in horror at the very thought of gay sex. They aren’t a “zero” (totally str8) or a six (totally gay) on the scale, but they’re probably a 2 or 1, predominately hetero but incidentally gay. Sexuality is fluid and the Kinsey scale has since been revised by other professionals, but it illustrated my point.

        • OneOfTheManyChris

The Kinsey scale simply counts sex acts. All men in prison for three years or more would be either a full out six or celibate. That’s not how I define gay. Gay is actually very modern concept and refers to the desire for same sex partners. It’s known to be partly genetic and influenced by factors before birth. Men have been fucking each other since time began, but mostly it’s been considered something you did because you couldn’t find a girl, not a preference.

Between the Viagra and the straight porn and the pot and the booze and the anal-eeze and the poppers, it’s not that hard to get a straight guy who’s willing to have gay sex.

          • paultacoma51

You make a good point, but not good enough to convince me. I have a feeling we understand very little about human sexuality, and current labels don’t begin to define it. It’s probably as complex as our genetic code.

          • John

I’ve done erotic massage for men for 33 years and have seen many thousands of men. 80% are bisexual. Almost none are out. The vast number of bi men I’ve encountered have never had sex with a guy till they are over 35… often closer to 50. Practically none have fallen in love with a guy but enjoy sport sex with a man. Most say they are curious… not bisexual. Surveys would miss most of these men!!! I think most men are bisexual… many more bi than gay.

          • pangelboy

            >but enjoy sport sex with a man

What is sport sex? Sounds like a genre of gay porn…

          • McM.

Fucking for the physical stimulation, but without forming any attachments. You’re in the moment to have a good time with another guy, or group, who is also there to have a good time.

Like volleyball, it’s the different between the person who wants to join a team or regularly plays with a group of people, and the guy who joins in for pick-up games but doesn’t necessarily has to play with the same group again. Both can be great at the game, but the latter isn’t looking for any commitments and is just enjoying the game as it’s being played in the moment.

          • pangelboy

            Thanks!

          • n24rc

No, we have an accurate picture of human sexuality. It’s just that humans conflate, lie, and confuse things because they want to appeal to an ideal of masculinity or femininity. Real research accommodates those things. Kinsey in his first studies did not account for variability of factors that may cause data inaccuracies.

          • But it also depends on what we’re talking about in terms of “straightness.”

There’s “straight” meaning only/primarily attracted to the opposite sex. That really isn’t something anyone can know unless they’re in someone else’s head. This will forever be up for debate and is probably why it’s still up for debate on most porn blogs.

However, thanks to the faulty cultural connection made between sexuality and gender, “straightness” is also a means for men to leverage their manhood. (aka “Straight” = “Masculine” = “Real Man”). When speaking of the sexuality of gay-for-pay men, it is also possible to speak about “straightness” in this manner rather than simply regarding one’s sexual attraction.

In speaking on the latter, no men in gay porn qualify as “straight,” even if they’re the Cody Cummings non-reciprocating type. Culturally speaking, even men in gay porn that identify as “straight” are on the same cultural level as gay men (aka viewed as “lesser” men) for the simple fact that they are having sex with another man. The kicker is, most of these guys go out of their way to identify as “straight” because they don’t want to be viewed as being on the same cultural level as gay men. They want to be able to have sex with men but still be viewed as a “real man.” They want to have their dick and suck it, too. (This is also the reason why you don’t see straight women that film lesbian scenes running around identifying as “straight” every chance they get. The phenomenon is very specific to the leveraging of manhood.)

When the majority of people argue that gay-for-pay guys simply AREN’T straight, the reasonable majority are arguing from the latter position. What most are saying is that you simply can’t have gay sex for the world to see and still expect to benefit from hetero-privilege. Beyond that, the common person absolutely will not consider a guy to be “straight” when he has sex with another guy (let alone repeatedly).

If you have sex with men–for whatever reason whatsoever–you forfeit your hetero-privilege and join the ranks of us homos. Even if you’re straight in this scenario, you’re still queer … and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that. In fact, straight men in gay porn should start to embrace it. We should expect them to embrace it. When they don’t, it smells distinctly of a desperate desire to benefit from hetero-privilege, wrapped up in homophobia, heterosexism, and exploitation. Sadly, we can’t expect these guys to have the level of insight required to embrace this queerness. At least not yet it seems.

Part of the problem is that there are those in the Great Gay-For-Pay Debate that are so unreasonable that they actually believe a man having sex with another man in porn automatically means the man is attracted to other men. Not only is that not the case (and never was the case, never will be the case), but instances of people throughout porn actually being attracted to their scene partner are the exception, not the rule. There is no logic to the belief that if a man is paid to have sex with another man he must be attracted to men when the same man could have sex with a woman to whom he isn’t attracted without it implying anything about his sexuality.

These people are loud, vocal, annoying and usually they are successful in hijacking the conversation and deflect from the central issue:
There might be straight men in gay porn but even if they are straight they’re still queer as all fuck.

          • pangelboy

I think what you’re saying will go over the head of a lot of people in this comment thread, but I’m glad you wrote this! +1

          • paultacoma51

I think you hit the nail on the head for part of the argument if not the entire reason for such vehement denial of being str8 but playing gay on TV. In the real world you can’t have gay sex on camera and maintain what you refer to as ‘hetero privilege’. This is what to what I was referring about the whole denial thing. It smells of desperation. But it’s an exercise in futility, because no one believes it.

          • Maximus

I’ve always considered the concept of a queer heterosexual to be oxymoronic, but your explanation is quite cogent. Labeling G4P performers as “straight but queer” seems to adequately reconcile the various arguments in this ongoing debate, or at least, it does so more deftly than any other theory proposed thus far. It’s an argreeable compromise because it allows G4P performers to retain part of their straight identity, but also prevents them from disallowing the fact that they have gay sex for money, something that the typical straight man would be unable to do for any reason. Hooray for dialectics!

One of the best comment’s I’ve read on this site in a while.
            Thanks for this.

      • n24rc

The act of being penetrated versus penetrating is a totally different thing.

Sure, straight men can do gay porn….but as a BOTTOM or someone who does oral.

Getting and maintaining an erection is the most difficult part of the job of being a porn star.

It’s well known in straight porn, few men can do that kind of work since erections have to be maintained and kept for shoots. Otherwise everyone would be doing porn who wanted to!

Even with Erectile Dysfunctional drugs, they cannot recreate sexual attraction and desire needed (which is more psychological than physiological). So it’s very possible they are exhibitionists that get the arousal from performing.

Sure you can play a porno on the side of the screen, but the focus of which you need to top is totally different. You have to pose according to the lighting, camera and figure out angles.

You have to be in the moment aware of your angles and focus your energy at the camera.

Having a porno playing in the background to get you stimulated is not going to do the trick.

So no more bullshitting about this fucking stupid ploy for more money and attention. It’s no longer a novelty act, it’s a glut of broke bitches trying to uptick their rates as well as get notoriety.

I didn’t ask about your sexuality, so stop advertising it, it’s insulting and insinuating a lot of negativity at homosexuality. I refuse to listen to that shit, ESPECIALLY in porn catered to me. If you don’t like gay men or having gay sex, then get the fuck out of gay porn! It’s really that simple, retards.

        • Estelle

Also even though girl/girl scenes pay less, many (maybe most) of the women that regularly work in porn would gladly do strictly girl/girl if they could make as much as they do with B/G. G/G the chance for injury and STD’s are cut by at least 90%, and the day is over much sooner then a b/g shoot.

          • n24rc

yep. Lesbian sex can be accommodating to a lot of things. Because the girls aren’t getting penetrated except with dildos and tongues. Plus, usually they are treated better on sets with all women.

It’s when you have gonzo porn with a lot of rapey stuff that you get paid more. Heck if you want to compare notes between the two b/g and g/g, rape = interracial is now the norm. The men are too aggressive, and are assholes.

            Forget them.

  • Zealot

I’ll bet this guy doesn’t take a shit unless someone is paying him to do it. What mom? You’d like for ME to call YOU once and awhile? My time is $250/hr. with a two hour minimum. I take PayPal, MasterCard, Visa and cash is always appreciated. What shall we talk about….Me?

  • smart

That’s what gay men get for loving gay for pay trash. I have lost interest in gay porn because it’s over run by privileged homophobic straight men.

    • Justin Trenton

Helix is mostly gay men that enjoy what they are doing.

      • Diesel Washington

        “Helix is mostly gay men…”
Hahah Honey they are Gay Twinks …..not Men but Twinks rethink that..

        • FrenchBug

Twinks who are open, confident and comfortable with who they are are much more “men” than some of those muscled macho douchebags who pretend they are something they are not in order to fit in with stereotypes – some of which you are here furthering unfortunately.
Courage is more admirable than body mass.

          • Lionel Del Rey

Honestly, I have more respect for Helix and a good amount of the Cocky Boy models mostly because they are actual gay/bi men that are open. And for the most part, a majority of them actually enjoy gay sex. It’s sad to say but I wish there were more gay men in gay porn.

          • Mike Julius

            Well said.

          • Odetofear
          • Karnna

Well said! They are men in that they take charge of their lives instead of playing the victim like these regressive ‘men’

        • Todd

You using ‘Honey’ and saying twinks aren’t men ….insulting and not at all surprising. … http://45.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_maog47RgcN1qhh6sgo1_500.gif

          • Diesel Washington

Again if you are between 18-21 I wouldn’t exactly call that being a Man. When I was 18/19 or 20 I didn’t consider myself a man.. Now you can split hairs and say I’m being insulting, but Its my opinion. I use the word Twink to describe guys that are between the ages of 18-21. Deal with it…
And I used the word Honey, so what.? You going to bash Me cause saying “Honey” is too gay sounding.?

You need to Bitch Please yourself….

          • Odetofear

thanks for explaining. We get a better idea of what you mean. The original post read hostile and slightly fem bashing. with the “haha” and simply stating they’re “not men.” Though i and possibly others still disagree, we at least have a better understanding of your reasoning.

        • smart

Huh…..so a “Twink” isn’t a man? I would rather twinks over gay4pay douchebags any day. At least they are openly gay and proud.

          • n24rc

I should hope they are men, otherwise it’s called statutory rape.

      • Linniejr

        So is IconMale.com

    • Reg W

      I agree with this.

  • OneOfTheManyChris

I think she’s an actress and I think she improvised all that stuff about the STD. There’s no ambiguity, no real emotion about the STD, no explanation of why she didn’t walk as soon as she found out, no reason why she’d want to spend her life with this guy in the first place. She’s awfully articulate and outspoken and stubborn for a woman who hasn’t dumped this guy yet. The story might be true, but I’d bet it’s not her story.

    • paultacoma51

I was thinking the same thing. It all seemed a bit too contrived. And Owen didn’t sound sincere either.

  • Jace

I assume these two were paid to appear on this show. Although, scam artists are usually better liars.

    Jerry Springer lives.

It’s impossible to discern the veracity of daytime talkshow spectacles such as these. However, the fact remains that people often lie and cheat while in relationships. That’s why it’s important to never trust anybody ever.

    Attention assholes:

“Viagra doesn’t improve erections in normal men, only in those with difficulty in achieving or maintaining erections sufficient for sexual intercourse due to a true medical problem. It is not an aphrodisiac (sexual stimulant) and will not increase sexual desire. Unlike other treatments for erectile dysfunction, Viagra requires sexual stimulation to function. Without this stimulation, Viagra won’t have any effect.”

Let me repeat: “Viagra requires sexual stimulation to function. Without this stimulation, Viagra won’t have any effect.”

He’s done. He’s still on Twitter digging the hole he’s dug for himself. Even fans went in on the assault on his page.

Wished this woulda happened to Vadim Black. Looks like he got a free pass after a week. Now he has new gay men swooning all over him on Twitter. Let’s hope Owen doesn’t find that same luck.

  • hbjock

It seems that most people would not even attempt doing gay porn unless there was at least some kind of curiosity about it. In today’s society, I think there’s just too much pressure to be one way or another – and I think we all know that stems from religious upbringing. “I can’t be gay, I have to be straight.” If you study ancient cultures, you’ll find that it didn’t really matter who you were with – except to say that if you wanted to have a child, then you needed to do the deed with the opposite sex.. but, other than that, if you wanted to spend your life with another man, go for it. Or if you wanted to be with a woman, go for it. I think if people would stop worrying about what society will think, we’d find that people are a lot more bisexual or even more homosexual than they allow themselves to be.

    • nick

Religion, the root of all evil.

  • Marsha Lewis

I for one don’t believe there is anythings such as gay for pay. These men are in denial. This Owen Michael sucks more dick and gets fucked more time in one week than I’ve had in a lifetime. He keeps on talking about he’s not gay. Yet studios go around and hire these fucking idiots. One cant just chose not to be gay.. I’m sorry… This is the reason why we have these idiot christian fundamentalist going on tv talking about being gay is a choice.

  • Odetofear

Not gonna lie, that shit made me laugh. It’s clearly fake, but ridiculously so, like at least there was some small believe-abilty with the Jerry Springer Show. The apology annoys me though. You can’t ask people to not give you shit when you chose to do something so public. You wanted the attention, you’re experiencing hate, but you’re just going to have to take it. … I will say,he does look really cute in that apology picture.

  • Linniejr

Smart I agree with what you said about we as gay men should stop support these douchebags and companies do need to stop recruiting these straight men for gay porn. But lets look at something. A large percentage of straight porn actors are bi-sexual. Number 2: Gay for pay, is something that I will never buy into. Reason being, saying they are gay for pay is the way these undercover or confused straight boys justify doing what they are doing. It is good to know that while there is a large number of so called gay for pay actors out there, many of the guys on the sites we surf and movies we watch are gay indeed. I’ve found you have more openly gay White gay porn actors than you do openly gay black porn actors. But you’ve given me an idea, to find out from the various companies, just exactly how many of their actors id as gay.

  • asby

He can’t be gay…He went on national TV in a wifebeater!!!!!!

  • JohnnyVooDoo

And of course Gay porn and there consumers are the first people to be thrown under the bus by these guys. What more could you expect. But nothing will change. Sean from SC and Vadim both showed their heavy dislike for the world of gay porn and they are still ever so popular. What kills me the most is how people are trying to act angry about G4P now when the next SC/MEN/CM/MOP/LE/CF (Who actually shoots and promotes straight porn on gay websites) will feature 2-3 G4P performers and you will completely forget about this incident and love that limp dicked/fake fucked/hyper edited update they will post day in and out.

  • Xavier Westenra

She found out 4 months ago her boyfriend fucks men for money and instead of breaking up with him she’d on this talk show talking about how she “wants him to stop” ? What a dumb bitch.
