Thanks to NakedSword’s Golden Gate in 2010, the gay porn web series was officially reborn. Script by Jack Shamama and Mike Stabile, direction by Chris Ward, and produced by NS’s Tim Valenti. Featuring the comeback (however short-lived) of legendary porn star Brad Star, real-life boyfriends (at the time) Topher DiMaggio and Cameron Marshall, and even an original theme song.
Two years after Golden Gate, GoGo Boy completely redefined the genre, made overnight superstars out of Jake Bass and Max Ryder, and put CockyBoys and director Jake Jaxson at the forefront of the industry. With awards (including the Grabby for Best Movie), mainstream crossover success, and film festival screenings, this docu-reality-porn could have aired on Bravo, and in fact Andy Cohen did mention it on his talk show, so technically it kind of did.
The one that started it all. Co-produced by JetSet and NakedSword with a GayVN-winning screenplay by Shamama and Stabile, this 2004 series was the gay porn version of Melrose Place meets Queer As Folk, and that’s only considering what happened when the cameras weren’t rolling. All nine episodes of the soap’s one and only season were filmed on location at L.A.’s notoriously cruise-y San Vicente Inn. Originally streamed in hour-long episodes once a week, the groundbreaking Wet Palms wasn’t just the industry’s first gay porn web series, it was also the industry’s first attempt at embracing an online audience. Wet Palms went on to become a huge DVD hit, and it eventually aired on French cable TV.
