Ricky Martin Faces 50 Years In Prison For Domestic Violence Stemming From Incestuous Affair With Nephew
We all knew it sounded bad following that first report of the restraining order issued against Ricky Martin, but now it looks even worse, as Martin could be facing 50 years in prison for domestic violence after having an incestuous affair with his nephew in Puerto Rico. (Martin is currently still married to Swedish artist Jwan Yosef.) The singer’s brother, Eric Martin (as seen above, left) has identified the nephew as the alleged victim, although it’s not clear if Eric Martin is the victim’s father. Puerto Rico has stronger penalties for sex crimes involving incest, but the exact charges against Martin have still not been published. His next court date is on July 21st. Via DailyMail:
Ricky Martin has been accused of incest by his 21-year-old nephew and could face up to 50 years in prison if convicted, reports indicate.
The singer was hit with a restraining order stemming from a domestic violence incident in Puerto Rico earlier this month, however the victim’s identity had been withheld.
His brother, Eric Martin, has since identified the alleged victim as the singer’s nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, Spanish news outlet Marca reported.
Martin is accused of ‘exercising physical and psychological attacks’ on Sanchez during their seven month relationship, which ended about two months ago.
A representative for Martin, 50, previously called the abuse allegations ‘completely false and fabricated’ in a statement provided to People earlier this month.
The star is expected in Puerto Rican court on July 21 for his trial.
