Ryan Raz Exclusive: Where He’s Been, Why He’s Back, And What Made Him Decide To Go Raw
Blond bombshell Ryan Raz burst onto the scene way back in 2008 (a lifetime ago in gay porn), and six years later, he’s still hot, still a powerbottom, and still willing to say what most others won’t. In a Str8UpGayPorn exclusive, Ryan Raz reveals where he’s been the past few years, what made him decide to come back now, and why he chose to get fucked bareback for the first time on camera.
Str8UpGayPorn: Hi Ryan! The first thing I think people might be wondering is where you’ve been? What have you been up to during your hiatus?
Ryan Raz: Some people may be, but if any of them have followed me on Twitter or my Facebook page until I deactivated it a year ago, then they do not have much to wonder about. I’ve been doing a lot of travel with clients, or I’ve been helping to manage events and parties for Rentboy.
Which includes the Hustlaball parties, and there’s one coming up in January, right?
Right. I’m in New York right now preparing for the Hustlaball in Vegas, where I’ll be managing the VIP room. I’ve also been working on the Rentboy Christmas party, which is in L.A. on December 17th. Besides the work for Rentboy, all the traveling and escorting keeps me quite busy.
Which is your favorite city to visit?
It’s hard to pick a favorite, mainly because I’ve been to so many. So, my top five: London, Amsterdam, Berlin, New York, and Singapore. Each one has something great to offer; I love experiencing new cultures and traditions. Berlin is definitely at the top of that list. I love the German culture, and the men there seem to love me.
I bet they do. So, do you remember what the last scene was that you filmed before taking a break?
I actually remember it very well. It was for Chi Chi, and it was called Frat Boy Fuck Down. I was “kidnapped” and initiated by 12 guys—I think it was 12?—in a fraternity.
11, 12, who has time to count when you’re being kidnapped?
Yeah, and I figured the best way to go out was to get pounded by 12 guys. And with Dean Monroe and Johnny Hazzard in the mix, how could I say no?
What inspired you to come back to gay porn now, three years later?
It was mainly a sense of wanting to do something fun, and maybe a little bit of boredom. I also realize that it’s an easy way to make some extra money, and I might as well monetize myself while I can.
And these comeback scenes—your first one today is from DudesRaw—are all bareback, which is what a majority of studios are filming now. Did you debate which kind of porn to do for your return, or was it not really an issue?
The only way I was going to do porn was if it was fun for me, and the reason I stopped filming three years ago was because it was no longer fun. I ran into Nick Moretti in San Francisco during Folsom, and I expressed some interest in doing bareback porn. I already had his number, and he told me to message him if I had more questions. When I did reach out to him, the answers to my questions were what I wanted to hear. Before I knew it, I was committed to working with him.
What kind of questions did you have?
Well, I was sold on the bareback scenes when I was told that the shoots normally take 30 minutes from beginning to end. I mainly stopped doing condom porn because the time and effort involved was so long, and definitely no longer enjoyable. The scene that was released today took 24 minutes to shoot, and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Do condom scenes always take longer to film?
Yes, and being on set for still photos and then filming every possible angle is draining, and not enjoyable. I personally love watching porn that isn’t scripted and shows people just doing what comes naturally.
How many scenes have you filmed so far, and would you consider this a full-fledged gay porn “comeback,” or just a “special guest star” appearance?
With the help of the internet and my travel calendar from the past six years, I was able to determine that the scene released today was the 79th porn scene that I’ve filmed. I filmed three scenes last week for three different studios—Dudes Raw, a Treasure Island solo, and Dark Alley—so that makes 81 total. I wouldn’t say this is a “comeback,” this is just me doing more of what I haven’t done in almost three years.
A lot of new faces have come and gone since you’ve been away. Were you paying attention to any of them?
The problem with the industry in the world of the internet and social media is that every day there seems to be five new people trying to become a star, and five people saying that they are going away forever.
It’s hard even for me to keep up. Any newcomers who have stood out for you?
There are a few people whose faces I would not mind sitting on. I think Shawn Wolfe is incredibly sexy, so is Nick Sterling. Connor Maguire has been around for a while, but it seems he’s been filming a lot these days, and I am not complaining about it. Mason Wyler is wanting to make another comeback, and if he needs volunteers to help him, you can consider me at the front of that line. Oh, and Cody Cummings is doing some gay porn again. I would love the opportunity to film with a true star like him—said no one ever.
Ha! I can’t believe there are still people willing to suck his dick. Having been in this industry for so many years now, what’s the one piece of advice you would give to someone starting out today?
The best advice I have to give is simply the best advice anybody can give. It’s a lot of fun to spend the cash you’re making, but your looks and your body aren’t going to last forever. Take a small portion of the money you make and invest it for your future. Partying now and living what you think is a rock star lifestyle is great, but being broke when you’re 50 isn’t fun.
