As many know by now, the producers of Sketchy Sex and FraternityX have launched a new, drug-themed gay porn studio called “Slam Rush,” and while I’m told that no real drugs are used during production of SlamRush scenes, many in the industry (as well as viewers and fans) have taken issue with even the implication of drug use, not to mention SlamRush’s celebration and depiction of chemsex parties—which have taken the lives of many gay men in real life—as “hot” entertainment. Here’s the studio’s description running on the SlamRush homepage:

On the one hand, that kind of premise isn’t remotely “hot” to me, but on the other hand, the actual fucking, all of the hard cocks, and all of the guys in the scenes are actually hot. So, it’s a shame that SlamRush can’t rely on the quality of their content without bringing in real-life bullshit that’s extremely harmful to people in our community. But, this is gay porn, and every kind of disturbing fantasy (hello: FamilyDick, BoyForSale, Gaycest, et al.) has an audience.
I’ve been told that there are fake “drugs” (e.g., meth, GHB, various pills, etc.) used as props in some of the SlamRush scenes, which is nothing new for gay porn (even mainstream studios like Raging Stallion have featured fake drugs and fake drug use in their movies), so it’s hard for me to act surprised or offended by this. That being said, drug addiction, overdoses, and “fantasies” like this do too much real-life harm to people every single day (unlike most of the other controversial porn themes and fetishes at other studios, so I’m wary of making comparisons), so unless something about their “theme” changes or the studio makes significant news in some other way, I don’t plan on covering SlamRush going forward, considering every one of their scenes is based on the exact same premise.

Grayson Lange has just issued a statement providing important context with regard to how (and when) this scene was produced. As Lange reveals below, he was not told by producers that meth use would be depicted in the scene, nor does he “condone the use of meth.” Lange had hoped that this scene would “never see the light of day,” which appears to indicate that it was filmed quite a while ago (well before SlamRush launched last month), and may have actually been originally produced for partner studio Sketchy Sex (Str8Up has reached out to Lange and SlamRush producers for confirmation on this). Here’s the text (and tweets below) of Lange’s statement:
It’s come to my attention a scene I hoped would never see the light of day has been released and some may be curious as to why I worked with them, and the truth is I had no idea what I was filming before I got there. I was told there would be alcohol and drugs in the scene. And I assumed it would be beer and weed given the studio’s previous content and from their previous things. […] I do not approve nor condone the use of meth. I apologize if anyone is offended by it, there will be no more scenes of mine like that.
