Exclusive: Sean Cody’s Tanner On Barebacking, His Sexuality, And Making You “Cum Uncontrollably”

tumblr_n2yyx6Pn6b1sb5puto1_500Sean Cody’s Tanner has been bottoming and topping (mostly bottoming) his way into fans’ hearts for just over a year now, so I’m thrilled to present his first ever interview below. And, this is the first time an active Sean Cody model has agreed to do an interview (normally, we don’t hear from them until long after they’ve left the extremely private bareback gay porn studio), which makes me doubly thrilled. The clean cut, gorgeous, and versatile muscle jock couldn’t answer some of my more specific questions, but I’m still grateful to Tanner (and Sean Cody) for taking the time to give us some insight into what it’s like working for the #1 gay porn studio online.

sean cody tannerStr8UpGayPorn: Hi Tanner! I guess to start, I’ll ask you about one of the big “controversial” topics: Sexuality. Do you identify as gay, bi, straight, or something else?
Sean Cody’s Tanner: I personally don’t identify with any sexual orientation. I believe sexuality is too complex, with many variances and in-betweens.

For some reason, I knew you were going to say that! But, do you think working in gay porn had any effect on your sexuality at all?
Yes. When I started I considered myself straight and now I consider myself always open to new things.

19And do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend now?

OK, moving on. Working in gay porn, do you think it’s easier to be straight or gay? Why?
Porn is work. LOL. I think it’s just as hard for both.

On Sean Cody, you became extremely popular in a quick amount of time. Do you pay attention to all the social media mentions and blog comments?
I actually haven’t gotten any feed back until I created a Twitter. My fans motivate me to continue and make better films.

I remember when you first tweeted me, and I actually didn’t think it was really “you” at first. Sean Cody models typically don’t have Twitter accounts, but you’re still working with them?
I’m still working with Sean Cody.

Great! I’m glad you didn’t get in trouble :-) Who has been your favorite guy to work with so far?
It’s hard to name just one. I always have a great time with all of the guys I work with, but if I had to name a few, I’d say Stu, David, and Cameron were the ones I had the most fun with.

tumblr_n5d13j5WNX1sznk6ro1_250tumblr_n5d13j5WNX1sznk6ro2_250tumblr_n5d13j5WNX1sznk6ro4_250

I’ll never forget all of your and David’s cum shots. What about that insane Mountain Getaway bareback orgy scene last year?
I had never done anything like that before.

mountain4It’s one of the best things Sean Cody has ever done. Did you know when you were filming it how good it was going to be?
When I was invited I was very excited. I knew it was going to be a lot of fun, but I had no idea it was going to be such an important set of films.

In Mountain Getaway, you worked with high school student Noel. What did you make of all the controversy surrounding him?
I know Noel personally, and it is such a shame that they attacked him like that. He really is a nice guy, and he wasn’t doing anything wrong.

tumblr_n43um0MPZt1rh6shzo1_400Has anyone ever reacted negatively upon learning about what you do?
Yeah, and I guess a lot of people in the adult film industry get shamed for what they do. I personally went through a similar experience as Noel, and was kicked out of a few social groups after people found out. I don’t mind though. The friends I have now are good, quality friends.

Do you talk to your Sean Cody co-stars off set?
Yeah, I like to hang out with the guys when we aren’t filming. We keep in touch, and I often ask Stu for lifting advice!

08qSean Cody has been producing bareback content for a couple years now, and other studios followed their lead when they made that shift back in 2012. Was working without condoms ever a concern for you, or was it not really a big deal?
I have seen the lengths they go to in order to make it safe for the models, and that makes me very comfortable performing bareback.

As a young guy, I’m curious what your thoughts in general are on condoms and safe sex. Do you use them in your personal life?
I always use protection when I have sex with someone I don’t know really well. If I am with someone for a while whom I trust, I don’t use one—assuming they are clean.

sean-cody-cameron-barebacks-tannerHave you ever encountered fans or people who recognize you in real life?
No one has ever came up and said, “Hi Tanner!” but I have good intuition, and I have an idea when someone starts talking to me after recognizing me. It’s happened a couple times.

And what do you do when you’re not shooting scenes?
I’m a full time student studying industrial engineering, and I’m interested in investing in real estate. I’m very outdoorsy, too. I love going going kayaking, spearfishing, setting up a slip and slide, or literally anything outside.

tumblr_n13gmeI44p1rejgr9o4_1280As a performer, you’ve been both a top and a bottom. Which do you prefer?
Honestly, it depends on my mood. Sometimes I’m feeling dominant and I just want to pound someone out, while other times I’ll want nothing else but to make the other guy cum uncontrollably.

Can you give us any hints about upcoming scenes yet to be released and/or any of your upcoming plans as a performer?
Nope! 😉

Aww, alright, before I let you go, what do you think it is about you that makes you such a good performer?
I have always been an exhibitionist. I like to be watched, and I think that’s what makes doing porn so easy for me.

And we like watching! Thanks, Tanner!

I know it’s short and sweet and though it isn’t earth-shattering (at least on the surface) I love this interview. So glad to read Tanner’s Twitter account is real and that SC doesn’t seem to have a problem with it. I think Tanner comes off quite well

  • CasperFan

Great interview-have loved Tanner from his first solo. Such a handsome man and always seems to have fun doing what he is doing! is Twitter is fun also and he seems to get off on the attention which is great! Hope he stays around Sean Cody for a long while yet!

    • n24rc

I doubt it, he’ll get playe-out by the end of this year. And SC will drop him for another new face. He will return to being “straight” and playing safe.

  • Joe

Hes a total sweet heart. He takes time out to answer all his tweets. Great performer to. I only joined SC for him & David and possibly Brandon. Beautiful guy too. very handsome . I still can’t believe he makes porn…He seems more the type to be on my Hollister bag. Lastly i liked his answer on sexuality. it was honest. It always makes me laugh when SC models say they have never even kissed a guy then 5 mins into the scene, they are at it like a Wasp around Candy…Well done Tanner. we love you!

    • sxg

I think that was one of the answers that was influenced more by the studio than him on his own, but he certainly looks like he genuinely enjoys his experiences at SC.

      • Joe

I guess your right there sxg – I’m sure he identifies as straight as but he’s certainly not shy in experimenting with guys . It’s porn and there’s a lot of smoke & mirrors however I think that SC has got their act together with the new batch of guys – David & Tanner etc they ” convince ” me anyway and I’ve seen a lot of porn! Lol
I subscribed to SC several times in the past and always felt disapointed by the gorgeous guys who looked like they didn’t want to be there.

  • Erik

Very good questions! And so great that you got a interview with a active SC-model!! BelAmi is No1 for me and SC is No2. I´m also glad that Tanner answered the most of the questions.

Tanner is quite good but not one of the top of the line-guys at SC in my opinion. BTW – I want the models to always be cleanshaven and not sometimes turn up with a 2-day´s beard. You forgot what he thought about (my big crush) Brandon… 😉 Mick is the best model at BelAmi and Brandon is Sean Cody´s best guy.

    • Joe

Brandon is possibly the best looking man in gay porn – he only needs to show up and he’d be good but Tanner has the full package ( no pun intended ) looks. – performance / personality and he’s sweet
He said in a tweet that he liked Brandon

      • sxg

Definitely not the best looking guy in gay porn. He’s always had a bit of a derp face, but he’s still quite sexy. He reminds me of those frat guys that I had a crush on in college.

      • Erik

Thanks for replying and for informing about Tanner´s tweet on Brandon.

  • sxg

I too am glad that he answered most of the questions. Tanner is one of those performers who gets better and better with every new scene he does. And he’s such an amazing guy on Twitter, he does not hesitate to respond to everyone whenever he can. Regardless of his sexuality, he’s a great performer and he always delivers a great scene.

Also, did you happen to verify if that Brandon Twitter is real or fake? I asked him if he could find out for me but he never did get back to me. I didn’t want to pressure him on the subject.

  • NG212

Always loved Tanner’s work. Always will.

Interesting that he’s an engineering student. And he wants to become a real estate investor. It’s commendable that he’s focused, and has a game plan.

I wish him all the best in work 😉 and life.

  • Owen Oax

You didn’t ask any question about SC’s superstar Brandon…

  • I don’t like it when someone gives that “I don’t label myself” answer. You either like guys, girls or both and then your either gay, straight, or bi. Not that complicated. So when I hear that old I don’t label myself I just think they are either playing fast and loose with ya or you have a total closet case who’s got issues. I don’t like labels but when it comes to sexualityt they are appropriate because that is how we determine whether or not we should be hitting on a guy we just met…….

    • James Withers

I’m shallow. He can describe himself anyway he wants as long as he kisses, gets fucked, and sicks dick. :-)

      • I have never been into bi guys cause I would hate it if I was dumped for a woman. I love women big Madonna and Dolly fan but to have a guy chose a woman over me would suck so having them say they are gay helps keep that from happening.

        • James Withers

Wait. So it really matters if a guy dumps you for a woman? That matters more than him walking away? Don’t get it, but never had an issue with bi guys. Think folk freak out too much over people’s bed mates.

        • MH Cressman

These are incredibly stupid reasons to not be into a bisexual man. Whoever he dates after he dumps you is NONE of your concern.

          • You must be bi. And I did not ask for your opinion anyway.

          • MH Cressman

I’m not, I just find your biphobia and bigotry towards bisexual men completely fucking stupid. I don’t give a flying fuck if you didn’t ask for my opinion. But enjoy being a terrible person, I suppose!

          • Oh now I am a terrible person, oh I am so hurt. Your a bitch for making assumptions about people you don’t even know.

          • MH Cressman

Just like you make shitty assumptions about bisexual men? Oh call in the pity party if he dumps you for a woman; it sounds like you’d fucking deserve to be dumped if that’s the petty, stupid, asinine & immature reasoning you use to discredit an entire sexuality.

          • I did not make any assumptions about bixsexual men I said “but to have a guy choose a woman over me” that was a scenario not an assumption about all bi guys. Sounds like you would deserve to be labeled an ASS for making incorrect ASSumptions.

          • MH Cressman

And it doesn’t matter one fucking iota if a guy chooses a woman over you. Whoever a person dates after the relationship ends has little to no bearing on someone unless they’re fifteen years old, and going by your profile, you’re way older than that so I’d assume you were more mature. But, like many gay men, you have strange, stupid biphobic tendencies that are not at all rooted in any sort of reality. A bisexual man doesn’t have to cater to your unfounded phobias about him and if he dates a woman instead of you, that doesn’t reflect on you, unless you believe women are inferior to you or some sort of attack on your character — again, another stupid, erroneous biphobic tendency.

          • Done arguing with you cunt.

          • MH Cressman

Come back with an actual reason to not date a bisexual man. You probably won’t find one, but you can sure keep stupidly trying!

    • Bull

I agree with you. Life is full of labels, whether we like them or not. Tall, short, fat, skinny, muscular, lean, blonde, brown, black hair, blue, brown, hazel, green eyes. Blue collar, white collar, student etc. The list is very long. Either you’re attracted to men, women, both or neither. It’s just that simple. If you act on it or not, regardless you still fit in one of those four categories.

      • People say they hate labels but then they don’t want to define themselves as being one of the three sexuality labels so they come up with new labels well if you don’t like labels then why are you trying to make it even more complicated by adding labels to what works for more of the world Gay, Straight, or Bi.

        • Andrew

I know this is an old thread, but I felt the need to comment. As Bull above said, there are also people who aren’t sexually attracted to anyone: asexuals. There are also people who are attracted to inanimate objects (saw a TLC show about it). And what about bestiality? You can say “those don’t count” but I don’t think that’s very fair just because they don’t fit your three boxes. I mean, I guess you could put it under an umbrella of sexual deviance, but that still means there are people out there that don’t fall into your three boxes. And then there are intersexted people, so which category would they fall into? If I’m intersex and I like guys, am I gay or straight?
I do understand what you’re saying about bisexuals or those afraid to come out; using the “no labels” excuse can be frustrating for out gay men. My point was there is the possibility that there really are people out there that it applied to. Also, there’s this thing called pansexuality, where you just love whomever you feel any special connection with (e.g., I identify as straight and am sexually attracted to women but just happen to have a one-time connection with a man). I really do think there is more than the “big 3” orientations that people such as yourself propagate.
And to be honest, I think the only reason he answered that question the way he did was because he isn’t allowed to say one way or the other.

        • Truy

          Hello

          • Truy

            Everybody

    • My label is Fluid. Although I too hate labels. When I thought I had to label myself I used the term gay (came out Junior year in Highschool) However lucky for me I grew up and realized I also liked having sex with women. I am not bi. To me that states I am equally attracted to both genders and this is simply not true for me. I like sex, and rarely feel the need to discriminate. Enjoy your labels, however I doubt they actually describe who you are inside.

      • In other words your bi. To me there is gay, straight, bi. Fluid is just a fancy term for bisexual. I don’t think that the term bisexual has a 50/50 definition attached to it. Your bi if your attracted and have sex with both men and women. Could be 80/20 but it is still bi.

        • John

          Preach!!!!!!!!

      • n24rc

It is, if you are trying to hide who you are from people you are pursuing. If you give people that bit of information and you are open about it, then you are not a douche.

      • Chrissy

” I am not bi. To me that states I am equally attracted to both genders” but that’s not what bi means. You could be mostly attracted to women 90% of the time, and still be bisexual.

        • Roy Rouell

And fluid means that your you understand that your attractions to certain groups can change. You can be fluid and be bi, gay, or straight or not wish to be labeled as any of the above. I identify as gay, gender-queer neither masculine nor feminine. The only labels that I don’t give myself that I care about are those given to me by my closest friends.
It isn’t the label you guys give Ariel, the only labels that do and should matter are the ones that he gives himself and allows his friends to give him. To impose your standard of doing and being on others is no better than what has been being done to us for a few centuries by the oppressive WASP society. We should rise above that instead of feed into it.

          • Chrissy

Oh please — fluid — bisexual. Your silly diatribe as just a bullshit excuse to try to be different.

      • charlieray

But then you are actually bi, or rather, “”homofleixble”

bisexual isn’t 50/50, and if you hate labels why label as gay?

    • charlieray

      What’s wrong with labels?

      • Nothing I am for them I was saying I don’t like those who refuse to label themselves it’s like they want to have the ability to choose what sexuality they are going to be like you choose what to wear and it don’t work that way.

      • Colorful Kent

Liars don’t like labels, cause they can’t keep their stories straight. They say no labels because they want their cake and eat it too. They don’t want to alienate fans either way, so they avoid the question. No integrity. Just tell us what kind of porn do watch, that will tell everything about you.

  • Joe

Hey guys he’s a porn actor – and unbelievably cute – wether he’s gay Bi or most likely straight ( ish ) the fact is he ain’t ever gonna be ours lol
Just enjoy it for what it is

    • n24rc

“ours” – omg, you are an asshole.

      • Joe

that says a lot about you that you would call someone you’ve never met or had a conversation with an asshole… shame on you troll

  • Gazzaq

Tanners fucking hot he is a good performer with a fucking fit arse that needs to be fucked. Top or bottom this guy can perform and I hope after he leaves Sean Cody he continues within this line of work. He is definately Bi, more towards our gay side, but identifys straight in his everyday life and was penalised for being in gay porn….

I wonder if he’s testing the waters and deciding to pursue porn work with other sites. Sure hope so.

  • Zealot

I expected the vagueness about his sexual orientation for obvious reasons. I tend to watch various model’s scenes for tell-tale signs that tend to give them away…staying rock hard while being fucked, coming while being fucked and rocking their ass back onto a cock if the top isn’t fucking rough/fast enough. Where Tanner is concerned I think we have three solid checks in those boxes. But honestly it doesn’t matter to me what he is or thinks he is, because he gets very involved with his partners and you can count on the pairing to be hot and enjoyable to watch. P.S. He also used the term “outdoorsy” to describe himself…..another dead giveaway! LOL

  • Brian McMillan

Seaguy. I would have agreed with you 5 years ago, but now, my tune has changed. I’m a 30-year-old male, who has learnt that sexuality and gender identity has more dynamics than would have been thought of when I came out. I’ve learnt that I’m not a gay man anymore, but something totally different. The millennials have an evolved way of thinking where gender and sexuality are concerned. And I think it’s great. Instead of ‘That Gay Guy’ or ‘That straight chick’ we have a person who is just a person.

    • charlieray

You can be gay and still a person. If you aren’t straight or gay then you’re some variation of bisexual no?

  • charlieray

So in other words he’s bi or rather, hetero fliexble.
