And The Winner Of The Next Men.com Exclusive Is…

nextmenBack in August, I announced that Str8UpGayPorn would be running a “Next Men.com Exclusive” contest, similar to the one last year that helped make Diego Sans an exclusive. This time around, the studio was looking for a brand new model who hadn’t performed in any gay porn scenes, and the six men above (Patrick, Colin, Manuel, Stephan, Mic, Brad) submitted their photos in the hopes of receiving the most reader votes. The poll ran for several days, and after about 4,000 votes, we had a winner.

With about 38% of the vote, that winner was Stephan James:

stephanwinstephanjStephan James was a great winner whom I think would’ve made great scenes, and I say “would’ve” because, unfortunately, Stephan decided he did not want to film with Men.com after all.

Men.com tried to contact Stephan for several weeks throughout August and September so that they could schedule the shoots, but he did not return calls or emails. I tried to help and also reached out to Stephan, but he didn’t respond to me either. According to Stephan (who did eventually reply to me—yesterday), he did hear from Men.com, but he was not comfortable filming a contest series, when he had already won the Str8UpGayPorn poll. Stephan has issued the below statement to Str8UpGayPorn:

Essentially, I didn’t win anything cause I needed to fly out and film with all the other guys in the comp, and then determining how everyone did determined the winner. So to me it sounded like what’s the point of the contest and getting votes and promoting it if it didn’t really mean anything?

Stephan did in fact win the Str8UpGayPorn poll, and details of what the winner of that poll would be filming with Men.com were clearly explained when the contest was launched:

The winner of this six-man vote will join the cast of Men.com’s upcoming “Next Men.com Exclusive” series, filming hardcore gay porn scenes with other up-and-coming gay porn stars who are also in the running to become an exclusive with Men.com. All travel expenses, accommodations, and of course scene rates will be arranged and paid for by Men.com.

So, clearly, there was a misunderstanding, or maybe Stephan decided that filming with Men.com wasn’t a good fit for him right now. Either way, he thanks everyone who voted for him and was grateful to have received all the votes.

While there is nothing I love more than wasting my time and publishing content that results in an epic flop, I do apologize to voters and to the other five contestants for wasting their time. Men.com has informed me that they will still be running another contest series, but it’s been put on hold until next year.
