Joey Mills Announces Departure From Helix Studios: “I Will Now Be A Free Agent”

Posted February 19, 2019 by with 93 comments

hx116_scene64_026It’s a dark day for fans of Joey Mills’ work at Helix, as the wildly popular and award-winning performer has just announced that he’s parted ways with the studio, where he’s been an exclusive since he launched his gay porn career back in 2016.

joey12Joey’s is the third such departure in as many weeks, as just last month, both Blake Mitchell and Angel Rivera (Joey’s real-life boyfriend) announced their own resignations from the Las Vegas-based gay porn studio. Joey most recently appeared in Helix’s Vegas Nights, and he’s the subject of Electric Soul, the latest book from Helix’s publishing house, 13RedMedia, for which he’s scheduled to have a nationwide book tour beginning next week. As of post time right now, the first book signing appears to still be on for next Monday in New York:

DzuKCsCUYAAG3DoWhat, exactly, is going on at Helix Studios to cause three of its biggest stars to split? Joey only issued one response to a fan (see below), citing “poor management,” but Str8UpGayPorn is working on getting more details right now. This is a developing story…

Not interested. Joey does nothing for me. Angel, however, has potential. He could do well at GISP or FraternityX as the new resident bottom, of course.

    • FrenchBug

Joey is a good performer but I don’t think he is classically handsome enough to move past the skinny-twink-with-braces thing and get steady work in porn, once the novelty of poaching him from Helix will have worn off. We shall see.

      • Zachary Sire

well, tell that to his fan base…one of the largest and loudest and most loyal of any performer I’ve ever seen

        • FrenchBug

I have been an observer of porn, entertainment and politics long enough to know that a very loud very active fan base does not always equate general success but tends to fool the principal into thinking they can achieve it. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a9950f57f766c19e6ab69d3b487439caf8a17607a5bd9ea98a88830352defd46.jpg
I wish him well and will watch what he does. But color me skeptical.

        • BoyFun.com

Definitely the guy with the loudest fan base, and number of fan accounts I’ve seen. Really curious where he ends up.

          • FrenchBug

I’ll say this: I would definitely be interested to see him in boyfun stuff. That would be a good match.

        • Van

His fan base seems to consist of a lot of women. These women seem to like and follow Helix and CockyBoys models. It does not appear to me that they follow or subscribe to other studios with the same enthusiasm. The “Helix Family” model, where all the models interact with each other and the studio workers on social media is what gets their fan base excited. Other studios, besides CockyBoys, don’t seem to have that. They are just about putting out sex scenes. I bet 90% of Joey’s fans never even watch his scenes, they just follow him on Twitter cause he’s a cute boy they can crush over.

          • 史大颗狂野榛果味

Heyyyy man. Many of Joey’s fans are really teenage girls.I agree, because I am one of them. But that doesn’t mean that 90% of his fans haven’t seen his scenes.
On the contrary, girls watch more.We not only watched all the scenes he took, but we watched each scene many times. We edit interesting clips in the scene, make GIF, edit videos and so on.Besides, fans draw pictures for him .We care about his every move and we support him wherever he goes.
For our fandom girl, he’s not just a pornstar, he’s our superstar. If a man has only his face but no inner part, fans will not love him so much. What really attracts us is his inner soul.
If you are interested, you can buy his new book Electric Soul.
I really think the brands need to pay attention to the purchasing power of girls, not just gay people watching Gay porn.
Joey has many fans in China, Korea, Thailand and even Asia. It’s amazing that we girls form different country get familiar with each other by loving Joey.
Many people don’t understand why Joey has so many girls fans, but that happens.
So much has been said. Please forgive my interruption.Thank you and bye

          • Van

While I’m glad you enjoy Joey’s work so much, you are kind of making my point for me. Helix and CockyBoys make videos with romance and stories that girls like. Most of the studios out there that are going to hire twinks like Joey or Angel don’t do that. They just make plain hardcore sex scenes geared mainly towards gay men.

And while I am sure the fans become emotionally involved with models you really don’t know them or what their inner soul is like. I follow Joey and Angel on twitter and Instgram and they do not really post that much about their personal lives or interact with their fans all that much from what I see (unless they are busy DMing fans, which I doubt). I find it hard to believe that the fans truly know the models true selves and are rather projecting what they want to believe they are onto them.

          • muchen

Actually no one wants to show all life on the web…We are all just visitors and just respect each other:)

          • McM.

            You’re a teenager?

@zacharysire:disqus this person should be removed from the board. As in comment deleted. Str8UpGayPorn features adult content, and having children casually drop by is a really bad look.

          • who_knows123

I don’t think most gay porn fans are that surprised that straight women do watch gay porn similar to straight men who watch lesbian porn as that trend has shifted over the past several years.. So it makes economic sense that Helix has changed their production values to appeal to women with the soft lighting, location shots, etc that other people are complaining about… I bet if you surveyed male gay porn stars they would tell you that they do have a fan base comprised of women as well, not just gay men. After all it’s not just gay men who like to look at other hot men, women do as well.

          • Van

That’s kind of my point. Helix and CockyBoys shoot more “artistic” scenes that women find to be hot. My thought is the other studios, that mainly focus on hardcore gay sex for other gays, do not get this kind of following. I don’t see other models that I follow on Twitter, outside of Helix or CockyBoys, with this kind of substantial, vocal, female fan base. Which makes me wonder how this fan base will react over time now that Joey is no longer at Helix. Of course now everyone is all like “I will support you and love you forever”, but let’s see how it’s going six months to a year from now when he is starring in the occasional GiSP scene. He was a hot commodity at Helix and they put him in a ton of scenes. He may find that he is not as hot a commodity outside of that culture. The female adoration that Helix models seem to get does not seem to extend to the rest of the gay porn industry from my observations.

          • 史大颗狂野榛果味

I think I understand what you mean. You think we girls just like him to shoot that kind of romantic scene, once he changes his style, such as the hardcore you said. We’ll leave him.Do you think girls’love is so superficial?
I’ll take the people around me as an example. Many of my female friends prefer LE, MEN, etc. to helix, cockyboys, etc. because they think hs,cb “too twink”.
See,Do you think girls only like to watch romantic plots and can’t accept rough style?
Joey works at helix and I watch the helix scene. Joey works at cockyboys, and I watch cockyboys .
Where Joey works, where we choose. That’s what we mean by saying”always loving and supporting you.”
Many fans like him since his frist scene. You do not find his charm, you do not understand the loyalty of fans, this is your problem, please do not doubt the love of fans.
And, as I said before, Joey is not just pornstar to us. The scenes he has shot are only a small part of us. We’re more concerned about Joey himself. It’s not about his career. We like the inside of him. He’s a pizza clerk. We like it. He’s pornstar. We like it. He is an artist . we like it. We like what he does.
At first you said that many fans would not even watch Joey’s scenes, and then you said that female fans only like romantic plots and can’t accept hardcore style.I really don’t know what to say. It seems like that girls can only watch Disney style and can’t see anything else.
Joey is really good, and so do his fans .
Although I disagree with some of your views, I thank you for your serious reply. My words may be offensive. Please don’t mind.
            Thank you and bye.

      • Van

Agreed. He is cute because he is young. To move to the next level he better start hitting the gym to become a twunk. Working at Helix, and all the attention he has gotten there, has probably given him an an unrealistic sense of his stature within the gay porn community. Most of the ex-Helix boys that move on to other studios never find the same level fame they did at Helix and aren’t around for very much longer.

  • FrenchBug

The interesting story is obviously what is going at Helix.
But truth? JM and BM had been overused and were past the stage it is time to move on. We shall see if they work with others and who and if they are successful but 51 scenes in 2 years and a half as an exclusive is more than enough.

    • FrenchBug

Put another way: bad management is relying so much on a handful of performers that you are screwed when they walk away.

      • Shawn

A handful of emotionally charged individuals too? I’ve praised the Helix social media game but at the same time Joey and Angel are pretty notorious for throwing tantrums on Twitter.

It’s a tricky one, I like how open the models are but at the same time I don’t think they always have the emotional maturity to handle the overwhelming amount of attention they get.

As with other Helix departures though, I predict he’ll do a couple of scenes elsewhere that will get hyped based off name recognition and then just fade in to the ether.

Blake is the only one who I can see going on to do other things (maybe outside of porn, but still within some kind of online entertainment presence) since he’s the only one of the lot that seems to have his shit together.

        • who_knows123

Really? I do know though that Blake Mitchell had joined the porn star mugshot hall of fame a few weeks ago shortly after leaving Helix.. Whether that is a one time thing or just the beginning of a downward spiral remains to be seen…

But racking up five driving related charges including speeding in one shot is hardly what I would call having your shit together.. But apparently you would it appears.

Like that saying goes; “It’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for”. In other words don’t be fooled so easily by the quiet ones..

You can find Blake’s mugshot online if you really want to.

          • Shawn

How’s the view from that ivory tower bro?

He’s a car guy, it would be more surprising if he DIDNT have driving charges. He’s a saint compared to the others in the so called ‘porn star mugshot hall of fame’.

I assume you live a life of purity, aside from your apparent penchant for passive aggression?

    • Formerpornproducer

Ryan Bailey, went on a tangent on Twitter about how Helix was nolonger giving W-2s, but 1099’s…these are all really young guys who probably don’t have the sense to save money to pay the taxes on what they’ve made on a 1099.

      • Formerpornproducer

What these twinks don’t realize is that there is NO studio thats going to give them w-2 status

        • Formerpornproducer

Joey Mills is cute…Blake Mitchell is OK… Angel rivera is cute, but boring …all replaceable.. @keithhelix has been doing this long before these twinks showed up

          • FrenchBug

            Well, I’d agree if…
If KM had been working on updating his roster as actively as he used to. Face it, casting at Helix in the past couple of years have been very lazy and lackluster. They rely on the same faces over. And over. And over. Even returning performers. If they are intent on continuing the separation from 8TeenBoy (where casting is still active and as good as ever even if the scenes are not always), then the Helix flagship is in trouble.
Also: If this didn’t signal a problem behind-the-scenes. We have all seen that the output has been pretty awful lately. The move, the visual BS, now this? Clearly there is some stuff going on. If this was an isolated couple of performers moving on, you could be right. But if, as this seems to indicate, there are some serious problems, then I am not sure Helix rebounds as well as it used to.

      • Van

Some of the models probably got W-2 since they also worked as employees behind the scenes doing lighting (like Joey) or in the office (like Angel). One thing I actually give credit to Helix for is them giving some of their models off screen jobs to supplement their income and live their lives. I don’t think they are going to find that kind of charity with other studios.

        • FrenchBug

Wait. Joey was doing the (AWFUL) lighting for Helix? Well, I change my mind. This might turn out to be a good thing.

          • Van

He was working with Max doing lighting for 18boy. Not sure if he lit any Helix scenes.

          • FrenchBug

The lighting isn’t a problem at 8TeenBoy so I take it back. If only they gave the 8teenboy folks more space to film (all the scenes feel cramped and are filmed in the wrong angles for that reason), it’d be close to the old-timey Helix and I’d be fine with it.

      • McM.

I don’t see the problem. 1099’s are entirely appropriate. Porn performers are independent contractors, even exclusives.

Navigating properly filing taxes is part of self-employment.

        • Devin

Exactly. All Uncle Sam requires the studio to issue is a 1099 if they pay the model over a certain dollar amount within the same calendar year. Pretty sure $600. If they want W2’s get a 9 to 5. The porn industry is not there, yet. I’m sure one day it’ll get to a place where studios will be required by law to provide W2s, Medical, Dental and Vision benefits…but not anytime soon. A lot reform is needed before that can happen

          • McM.

Studios don’t want such a reform. Models as employees increase operational costs which cuts into profits. It would require a redistribution of funds to pay on-screen talent monthly wages comparable to what they’d earn at low rates with multiple studios.

A handful of exclusives within a company’s network – FalconGroup, MindGeek (ugh!), whatever that BMR/BTH/AM thing is – with the rest as independent contractors is feasible but can lead to a model’s over saturation. This can be solved by reducing appearance frequency. Gotta keep ’em wantin’ more, kid! On the surface this means true exclusives are paid a lot more per scene than ind-contractors. However, if the models are all superior performers who attract and retain subscriptions, their added value justifies higher compensation.

I don’t see any porn studio moving in that direction.

          • Devin

You may be right. The studios may never move in that direction. I personally think a lot of models need to humble themselves. While I’m an advocate for sex workers and I support them financially by actually paying for porn….it’s not an ideal job, imo. I think it can be a great job and a fun job if you take it for what it is and enjoy the perks…but I would always look at it as something very temporary. I would encourage every model to have an exit plan because the industry probably is not going to change much and there’s always a younger and potentially hotter model around the corner

      • McM.

Out of curiousity, what’s the average cost to produce a scene? Set, crew, talent, location, etc. Studio quality, with more or less polished content.

        • Spike.men

          Exclusive model $3000
          Non exclusive $1000
          Director $1500
          Camera 2 operator $250
          Location in house $0
          Rented location $500
          Editor $1250
          STD testing $500
          Air travel for models $1200
          Catering $100
          Insurance $350
          Permits if needed $250
          Production assistants $125 x 2
Name photographer for promotional stills $1750
          Web/social media crew $250
Video cameras and lights $250 rented or amortization
          Misc. lube,condoms etc. $100

These numbers reflect what a professional studio would look to spend, an amateur Studio would spend much less.

          • McM.

Holy crap! That’s $12,500 per scene. For a studio producing three scenes a week that’s almost 2 million a year. At current rates, a site like Falcon needs 17,000 yearly subscribers to break even. Much more when base operations like salaries, office space, utilities, servers, etc. are factored in.

No wonder sites don’t have exclusives. Assuming a standard $1000 scene rate, established models seen multiple times a week on various sites pull in over 100 thousand a year.

          • BoyFun.com

Its not that high. Varies studio to studio. Where you shoot is a big factor. We get more bang for our production dollar in Prague and Budapest, than if we were shooting in Vegas for example. Somewhat on the model rates, but mostly saved on the location costs, labor costs on set. Our actual staff is USA based for the editing and backend work. But if you are doing 2 scenes a week, you need a good solid members base just to break even, if you are shooting top guys and paying them good/fair rates.

          • DieselBoy

Did you just make those numbers up because they are clearly not real ha ha ! If scenes actually cost that much every studio would be broke by now.

          • Spike.men

I did state that amateur studios would not be on this budget. However Naked Sword and other studios of their production caliber are spending similar amounts to what I have listed. I have been producing porn for over 30 years. As far as what studios earn, do a little math on Sean Cody. With an estimated 25,000 members paying 29.99 a month they are bringing in north of $700,000. They can afford this budget frame.

          • DieselBoy

Director earning $1500 for a scene? Editor earning $1250 for a scene? You clearly were producing porn in your dreams as no director or editor gets that for one scene, and I have contacts at several of the big studios so I know that for a fact. I think your figures are way off mark.

          • Spike.men

Not understanding why you are so aggressively negative with your tone. These are simple projected numbers.

          • DieselBoy

Because they are totally incorrect numbers plucked from thin air.

Do you honestly think an editor gets paid $1250 to edit ONE scene?

Or a director gets $1500 to direct ONE scene?

C’mon you obviously havent worked in porn for 30 years or you would know that these are fairytale numbers.

          • Spike.men

How many Porn movies have you produced

          • DieselBoy

Probably a lot more than you have going by how little you know about actual costs, and I’ve produced REAL movies for several different studios over the past 12 years so yes I do know what I’m talking about hence why I know that the figures you gave are all fantasy figures plucked from thin air (much like the production career you claim to have).

So then what exactly are these books about??? I’m sorry but I’ve never seen the extreme appeal of any of the Helix models to warrant books, book signings & tours. Being an adult performer is a glorified sex job, these people are not celebrities. Seems to me studios & fans allow these guys to get these huge egos where they think they are entitled to gifts, money & more. They move from studio to studio but it doesn’t change these facts. These guys choose this industry & they make whatever goes along with it, however, status is not one of them. I mean I’m sorry for the bluntness of this but you suck dick & get fucked for a living…that is all.

    • FrenchBug

There is something of a market for gay-themed novel, particular gay romances, among female readers.
And it is not unique to America: Google the popularity of “Boys’ Love” novels in China.

      • magenta5

You know that man doesn’t read. He couldn’t be bothered to look up the books himself on Amazon. Better he just watch the “Tweak x Craig” episode of South Park. :)

    • Zachary Sire

I suggest you take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are so bitter and resentful of the people you jerk off to.

      • Dave Netherton

Exactly people jerk off to them…that’s it. Not bitter or resentful at all, just a realist.

        • Zachary Sire

that might be all that you do, but not everyone is you, and other people look up to performers in all different kinds of ways. There is absolutely no need or purpose in being dismissive and disparaging towards guys who bring people joy and happiness and pleasure. Pointless waste of your time.

          • Dave Netherton

That’s fine if they do that. What do they look up to??? The ideal of what they do?? Like I said they aren’t celebrities and when they are propped up as such and develop off putting egos and entitled behavior it’s embarrassing on our community. Humility is a lost art on this generation. Now, I’m painting with a wide brush here not everyone is like this but from what I’ve see on social media from the majority of them it is. More so in North America than I find in other parts of the world. It’s the mentality, like the world owes them something & they need to cash in monetarily while they are popular. Asking for gifts is one thing but now they post paypals on their account expecting people to give them money. If the job doesn’t pay enough get other steady employment, don’t expect people to compensate you if you chose a job & lifestyle that doesn’t pay enough.

          • Neil

“don’t expect people to compensate you if you chose a job & lifestyle that doesn’t pay enough”. Is that an order? A kind suggestion? A hope? A dream?

          • Kanaka

            I bought Blake’s book. I’m a fan and it’s great. Sod off.

          • Default_User

Celebrity is quasi-subjective. There are plenty of people who are celebrities in other fields that i would not be able to recognize if they are standing right in front of me, (whats a post malone?) just as a bunch of straight people wont be able to tell a gay adult performer is a celebrity if they are right in front of them. Their behavior, unless it directly impacts you, is none of your damned business. If their “ego” is sustainable in their corner of their universe, that’s for them to do whatever with it.

As for celebrity culture of cashing in while it is hot, that is basic mechanics of youth-driven economies (pop culture and sex culture, even sports culture). Most performers understand that they have a very limited window to work in this field. Looks fade, bodies bloat, voices crack and knees give out. These performers are wise to make as much money as possible to supplement their livelihood and maybe save for the future (or at least pay off their education).

          • Seanumich

            “they aren’t celebrities”

Interesting. There names are known and yours is not. No, they arent the Kardasians, but they are celebrities in the gay porn world. I also am sick and fucking tiered of the “this generation” BULLSHIT. How far back dpo you want to go to find other porn stars with boorish behavior. Ron Jeremy. Jenna Jameson. Jeff Stryker. Ken Ryker.
As for them posting paypals or asking for gifts SO WHAT. Again, nobody has forced you to give. If you dont like their social media. DONT FOLLOW THEM.
You basically are the old man who says “damn kids get off my lawn” You are sad and pathetic

        • Seanumich

People omly listen to music. They only watch TV. It is nothing more. Nobody says you have to like it, BUT if there wasnt a market for it, they wouldnt prodiuce it. We get it, you arent a customer. SO FUCKING WHAT

    • Shawn

If you don’t see the appeal, then you are not their target demographic. Move on and stop being so bitter and find something you enjoy instead.

    • magenta5

I also have a job. It may not be a “glorified sex job”, but I feel entitled to receiving monetary compensation for the work I do. People who enjoy my services also often give me “gifts”! They call them tips. I wish my job would provide me with “more”, say health insurance, but I get by.

      • McM.

Tips are not “gifts”. They’re a customary form of compensation by consumers for immediate services rendered. True whether a person serves food, tends bar, dances/strips, or plays piano at a fine restaurant. It’s a poor comparison b/c none of these people expect tips for past services or in anticipation of future services. I had a woman give me great lap dance before, professionally applied titty-glitter all over my face like a foundation, but I’m not going to hand her an extra ten spot if I happen across her later.

More power to these guys if they have wish lists or paypal accounts, but lets not pretend they’re the same as tips.

    • Default_User

      Whoa. Bitter alert.

I am not a fan of twinks, so generally i read Helix news mostly for the tea (thanks Zach!). But these people absolutely deserve our respect for doing sex work. There are plenty of performers on the straight side (mostly women) who have achieved a measure of fame and fortune doing just that, so why shouldn’t Joey or Blake? If they are popular enough, of course they have a certain level of status. If that is what they want to do at this point in their lives they do not deserve your harsh and unwarranted judgement.

  • Mr.Varric

I feel like this is becoming a trend with a lot of these studios, especially when it comes to the treatment of there models. from Bromo, Men, Sketchy sex and now Helix. I can only imagine what the workplace with SC, CF and LE is like.

  • Hush-ins

Helix is losing models left and right. Something might be happening in the management we do not know of.

  • CamCam

What the hell is going on at Helix that they can’t keep their talent anymore? This is so strange.

    • JacquesLeDit

In my experience, when so many employees leave around the same time, there is a lot of issues with management which results in employee departures.

  • Jbj

I for one will miss him if he’s done with porn…think he’s sexy af!

    • Stevo Walker

If you read the tweet it says he’s going to be a free agent….not leaving porn.

  • B.C.

Not necessarily a bad news. I’m guessing he’ll do Family Dick/Missionary Boyz, couple scenes for Cocky, then a threesome at GISP where his beau resides, back with Helix…it could be fun (for viewers too).

    • Stevo Walker

Honestly, if Joey did FamilyDick that would be hot af but kind of creepy. I can easily see him doing some work for CB also athough it wouldn’t be my first choice for him. I don’t think he fits the type of guys at GISP but they’d be lucky to have him too.

  • Luke

Helix has been producing mediocre content for a while now. With the departures of Tyler Hill, Angel Rivera, Blake Mitchell and Joey Mills; one wonders what behind-the-scenes shenanigans have taken place. Anyway, before Helix went off the rails I really liked Joey and I hope he moves to Cockyboys.

    • Tempest

Can we please not turn CB into Helix 3.0? Having two of them is bad enough.

      • Luke

Cockyboys has a very different approach than Helix. I love it when Helix guys move there because it means I finally get to see guys I like having hot sex

    • Zachery Binx

If they do decide to let Joey Mills hop over to CockyBoys for a scene or two, I really hope one of them is with Ben Masters just because that would be VERY interesting to witness.

  • holgerson

Could not Helix realize Cabin Fever Part 2 quickly?

  • Scrapple

If Joey does show up to those signings it’s going to be awkward as fuck. Maybe he’ll throw some shade in the books he signs. Then fans can enjoy some tea with their reading.

Helix films are AWFUL now. They’re being geared toward a women audience now (which is fine I guess) but ever since Taylor Saracen started directing scenes it’s all sensual light and dramatic shots and cheesy dialogue. Stick to the fucking and the cumming you’re used to sis!

    • JacquesLeDit

Taylor isn’t directing scenes. She’s only writing the dialogue/scripts and the scene write-ups. That said, I completely agree with you.

Just watched the Helix trailer for “Starstruck” with Kyle Ross and Dylan Hayes. From the blurb: “This erotic art house installation is a delicious detour off the beaten path.” Artsy fartsy as all get out, but also way, way hot looking. For one thing, they flip. For another, finally a good haircut on Kyle. And last, a much darker, more dangerous (in a sexy way) tone than the usual Helix offering. Gave me hope about Helix (tho I could do without all the lens flares).

      • Stevo Walker

This is an awful screen cap, and I hope not one they published. Hote models, just bad photo.

  • Ty Huber

Whatever. The boy’s got a really big cock, which is never a bad thing when seeking gay porn work.

While he said, “bad management” was the reason he left, isn’t it the same management as it’s been since he started there nearly 3 years ago? Unless there’s been some dramatic change, it could be him getting frustrated and/or restless at doing much of the same thing for 3 years. And management not changing it up. I guess he could have just gotten into an argument with somebody up the chain. But unless Helix is slashing scene rates, or taking something away from the models that they used to have, I’m not sure what could be different than 3 years ago.

These are young guys. We shouldn’t expect them to stick to one studio their whole career. Most don’t. And not re-signing an exclusive contract doesn’t have to mean something scandalous is happening. Sometimes, when one model leaves, others start to think whether they might find something different outside one studio. So it starts a chain reaction. I don’t blame any model that wants to experience different directors, different producers, writers, or different scene partners, especially once they’ve reached a point where they’ve made a name for themselves. Going freelance is tough—it’s easier if you’re already a known commodity (and even easier if you’re a known good commodity).

I guess we’ll see with Joey. He’s been so attached to Helix (it’s his entire career) that he might find it tough to get other producers or studios to see him in any other way than how Helix presented him. But who knows.

  • Dave Morozkin

I guess I’m exposing myself as a basic bitch given the catty GIFs being posted by white guys speaking AAVE, but I’ve always liked Joey and wish the best for him. Not sure there are any other sites that would be a good fit for him. Hope he stays away from the sketchy FamilyDick/BrotherCrush universe.

  • Del

I wonder where he ends up at ( Cockyboys). Meanwhile tho 8Teenboy added new people to its roster. It’s so obvious which side is still growing.

    • Stevo Walker

8Teenboy is so cringy. There are 1 or 2 models there as popular (relatively speaking) as Joey Mills but otherwise the site is painfully basic twink porn. I respect Helix for letting some of their aging models run production for the second studio but the porn is just awful.

  • Stevo Walker

Joey and Blake are the faces of Helix Studios. JM started behaving like a drama queen for a little while, BUT he was the star and he knew it so what could anyone say? I’ve always thought he was too sexy to be paired with the same, boring white twinks (18-21) every time at Helix. I think this will only be good if he can make hotter scenes with different studios (which IMO won’t be hard.) Seeing him fucked by actual adult looking men, black/latinos guys, and in better written genre porn can equal that happening. We’ll see I guess.

    • Del

Man Joey would make such hot scenes with Mormonboyz. Tho i guess if he got on there he’d also show up at the sister sites.

    • who_knows123

I prefer the buff models like Corey Marshall who will probably emerge as the next big star at Helix. But to each their own as some do prefer like the skinny twink types..

  • Default_User

I think everyone called it when Angel announced his departure that it would be a matter of time before Joey follows. I am sure he would still be touring with the book if he gets paid for it.

  • Devin

Austin, where are you? Mr. Wilde. Snatch Angel up, promptly and do it quickly before I cancel my membership. Thank you. Oh, and you better not have him just topping, either. A flip flop with Mateo would be great and no socks, please. I swear I just need to start my own studio.

    • Van

Austin Wilde has already snatched up Angel. Angel signed an exclusive contract with GiSP a coup,e of weeks ago as reported on this website. Now the question is will Austin snatch up Joey too.

      • Devin

Personally, I don’t think Joey would be a good fit at GISP and I don’t know if he’d be a good fit at any other studio, unless he reinvented himself….but if he’s giving us Helix Joey it’s not going to work. I see him being more successful on a fans site, but that means he has to learn how to manage his own business

  • paul fletcher

Yep hard to know whats going on there. On Helix website there are 36 models on the first page of their drop down models section. Of the 36, 25 are no longer filming w/- Helix. Besides Blake, Angel and Joey includes former high rated models like Evan Parker, Logan Cross, Justin Owen, Kody Knight, Troy Ryan (I know he hasn’t filmed for 3 years but his pic is still on first page of models) Landon Vega, Grayson lange and Aston Summers and it seems we will never get rid of the impossibly boring Max Cater. Seems they have slipped so far they can’t even keep their models up to date.

  • JacquesLeDit

And the hits just keep on coming… Julian Bell announced today on Twitter that he is no longer working for either 8Teenboy or Helix and is not moving to another studio, instead focusing on his OnlyFans account.
