Troye Jacobs Exclusive: How A Sex Worker And Singer Became One Of 2021’s Biggest Stars, And Why He’ll Always Have Your Back

Posted June 15, 2021 by with 9 comments

Multi-talented performer Troye Jacobs made his gay porn debut last summer, and less than one year later, the New York City-based gay porn star/singer has became a wildly successful fan favorite with an arsenal of sex scenes and songs to keep followers constantly entertained. Jacobs attributes most of his success to his consistency, but the quality of his work coupled with his kindness and sweet personality has no doubt helped, too. In his first Str8UpGayPorn exclusive interview below, Troye Jacobs opens up about his music career, his OnlyFans, his stalker, what he’s learned about himself since becoming a gay porn star, why it’s important for models to support each other, and much more.

Str8UpGayPorn: Hello, Troye! It’s been such a busy month for you with so much going on, so thank you for taking the time to chat! I guess let’s start at the beginning: When and how did you decide to do gay porn?
Troye Jacobs: Hi! Well, I never planned to get into porn, it just sort of happened! I’m a pretty open and sexual person, so when the opportunity presented itself, I was super excited and jumped right in.

And this was almost a year ago, right? Where was your first scene?
Right, August of 2020. My very first scenes were with Colby Chambers and Mickey Knox, for ColbyKnox, and I honestly could not have asked for better first scene partners. Both Colby and Mickey were extremely kind and helpful to me when I was starting out, and they really showed me the ropes to this industry.

Your work in their Scream parody was absolutely brilliant. I’ll post the trailer again at the end of the interview in case anyone missed it.

Before you started performing, did you have any idea that you’d amass such a loyal following and become such a well-known gay porn star?
I honestly had no idea. Originally, I started my Twitter for fun, and I guess you can say things have escalated from there! I never expected to have the following I do or the support that I get. I feel extremely lucky and grateful that people are so invested in my scenes and content. I always wanted to be known for something, so I guess this is a good start! I don’t know if I think of myself as a “star” just yet, but I do know that I’m proud of the work I’ve done so far.

What’s fascinating to me is how you became so popular all on your own, while many performers have studios and marketing teams behind them to help with publicity. How did you do it?
It’s interesting, because I’m not even sure if I know exactly how I did it. I stay consistent promoting my content, and I think that’s what has helped me in the long run. My goal was to be everywhere at once. I wanted people to log onto Twitter and see my content. I really pushed my posts and I think this is where I started to catch on.

And you always post the best stuff. I think sharing such hot and high quality content obviously helps.
I’m not sure why it happened so quickly, but I think there’s something about my content and character that’s honest and truthful. I’m not playing a role or being someone else, I’m just sharing my sexual experiences with the world.

You’ve performed with studios and you produce your own content. Which, if either, do you prefer?
Both have their ups and downs. Studios are great, but in my opinion, they lack some of the promotion that I get from Twitter and OnlyFans. Like I mentioned, I took initiative to promote my own content, and that’s when I noticed people became invested in me.

For you, what’s better about making your OnlyFans porn, compared to filming with studios?
I do love shooting studio porn. It’s a lot of fun and I’ve had the pleasure of working with some amazing models, but OnlyFans gives me complete control over the content I make, and it allows me to connect with my followers on a personal level.

With the good side of fame and success, there can often be a downside. For you, that downside has included having to deal with an obsessed stalker, which you posted about recently. What has that been like, and where do things stand now in terms of dealing with this person legally?
It has made things extremely difficult for me. He’s been stalking and harassing me online since October of last year. It’s gone on far too long. The police in his town are aware of the situation, and I’m hoping action will be taken soon to stop his insane behavior. Stalking is no joke, it’s put me in extremely dangerous situations and has made me realize that you have to be very careful with who you speak to online.

You also posted recently about an OnlyFans performer named Jake Harding who’s facing rape charges, and you told people to be careful of who they’re filming with. What can people realistically do to ensure safety when filming collabs?
Just make sure you really know who you’re talking to. Get other opinions, ask other models, and really make sure you trust that person before deciding to film with them. Models that filmed with Jake Harding weren’t aware of his rape charges, so it’s really important to get input from another model that has worked directly with that person. And if we have a negative experience with someone, it’s our job to speak up and warn other models. We have to have each other’s backs.

Have you ever dated anyone in the industry? What are some of the things you look for in a partner?
I haven’t dated anyone in the industry yet! I am single, but ideally my partner would be hard working and passionate about his ambitions and dreams. Going for what you want and taking risks is really fucking sexy!

You’ve shown your talent as a singer and released some beautiful videos covering a variety of artists. Will you ever write your own songs, and have you had vocal training?
Thank you so much! Yes! I’ve been in the studio in New York and recently finished my first single. It’s in post production currently being mastered and mixed, but once I have a set date, I’ll make sure to announce it on my socials!

That is such great news. What do you say to someone who might say you can’t be both a singer and a porn star?
Every great artist, musician, actor, and model was faced with rejection. They were told no time after time. If people are doubting your dreams and seem hesitant or scared of what you’re trying to do, you’re probably doing something right. The envelope needs to be pushed. No one is successful by staying in their comfort zone, you have to go where people have never gone before. Just keep telling yourself you can do it, cause one day you’ll wake up and you’ll be right where you knew you would be!

I know you must listen to your own songs, but do you watch your own porn scenes? If so, do you critique yourself?
I don’t! I have a hard time watching myself in videos without criticizing myself, but that’s something I need to work on. When I step on set, I feel confident and sexy. I think being there in the moment and feeling good about myself is all I need for now. Maybe I’ll be more open to watching myself in the future.

Is there any sex position or sex act you haven’t done before that you’d like to try?
Oooh. I haven’t been double penetrated yet, and I feel like I’m getting closer to being ready for that! I’d also love to be spit roasted in a scene sometime soon.

Seeing a DP would be amazing. So is it fair to say you’d consider yourself more of a bottom?
I’m definitely more of a bottom, but I love to top every now and then. And I’m definitely a bottom that loves having my cock played with! The best tops are the ones that give oral, too.

I wanted to ask you about that recent Grabby Awards debacle, but I won’t rehash what’s already been reported. In short, why do you think they waited two days to try and explain their Performer Of The Year mistake? Also, did you even vote in the Grabbys?
I didn’t vote. I wish I did, so I could’ve known for myself whether I was really on that list or not. Over the last few weeks, I’ve heard so many rumors and assumptions, but I’m just ready to move on. I think the most disappointing thing regarding this situation is that instead of my hard work being seen and brought to attention, I was overshadowed by a mistake and negative articles.

It’s disappointing, but they unfortunately have such a messy history with their “show.”
When I found out there had been a mistake, I told my fans and supporters that I really did feel like Performer of the Year, regardless of an award. Awards mean shit. It’s the work and how far I’ve come in 10 months that speaks for itself, and I don’t need a trophy or other people’s input to validate that.

Exactly. When you’re not performing, what do you do outside of work?
Aside from porn, I’m always singing and writing music. It’s a really great creative outlet for me and I can’t wait to share more. I went to acting school for a few years, so I love to act as well. I love getting the chance to act in scenes, I really hope I get some more opportunities to tackle a big scripted role in porn. I love to work out and travel as well, and love spending time with my family.

Knowing what you know now and having the experience you’ve had over the last year, if you could go back in time to one year ago, what advice would you give yourself?
I would tell myself to have more fun! It’s not that serious, it’s just sex! The more fun you have, the more fun your viewers and followers will have.

If you read comments or see things that people say about you online, what is the biggest misconception people might have about you?
I think people have this idea that I had this whole master plan to become a porn star! The truth is, I just really like sharing my sexual experiences, and it makes me happy knowing that other people enjoy it too!

What have you learned about yourself over the last year that you might not have learned had you not become a gay porn star?
I’ve learned that kindness goes a long way. There are some real bad apples in this industry, I won’t lie. But kindness prevails. If models and creators can all be supportive of one another and leave the cattiness behind, we’ll all be so much happier and successful.

Very sage advice. Before I let you go, what can fans look forward to from Troye Jacobs in the months ahead?
You can expect tons of original content as usual on my OnlyFans page, as well as some really sexy scenes that I have coming up soon. And don’t forget, my debut single will be released soon!

So much to look forward to, I can’t wait! Thank you again, Troye!
